Hello

Hello all! Call me Selfnaught.

I am a father of one in my mid 30s. I have been dabbling in Christianity since was 12. At that time is was growing up in a Catholic household while attending a Seventh Day Adventist middle school. I questioned the existence of God for many years until I was 29, right before the birth of my son. The summer before he was born I did not come to believe in God, but knew without a doubt that he existed. This took years and years of searching for proof and evidence and I eventually gave up because none was sufficient to remove the doubt.

If there is anyone here that has any doubt left I would like to share something that I hope helps. This ended the search for me, all of my past studies (about proving God) are in the trash basically as they are not needed.

Imagine for a minute that nothing exists. Nothing, no you, not your parents, your ancestors, all of history, no time, no space, no universe. Nothing exists.
If nothing existed, the truth would be that nothing existed.
…..so then the truth would still exist. Truth always exist.

So while I know that God exists, I there is so much work to do now for me and I’m finally able to pick my studies back up!

I’m here to learn, observe, ask questions, and really figure out the correct way to follow God and show my love to Him. Also to further understand the Bible.

Looking forward to being here!

Welcome to the forum Selfnaught ! :wave2

We have a forum for your questions :study .

There is only one right way to follow God. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Any other way is a dead-end.

Christ also tells us how to show your love for God. That is found in the words "Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and the second Commandment is "Love others as yourself". When you do those 2 things then imo you are showing God that you in fact love Him.

Christ also tells us that if we abide in Him, then we also abide in the Father, so this means imo that when you repent of your sin sincerely before the Father, accept His Son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and keep His Commandments then through Jesus Christ you will come to know the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit that Christ will send you.

God does all the work, all we need do is obey Him :Agsm

Welcome Selfnaught - your thought experience is profound beyond my understanding but I believe that any thought process that points us toward God can only by good. I was in my early 20's and a member of the Air Force (US Air Force) stationed on the island of Guam. I was growing increasingly unhappy because I had joined in with a group of Mexicans on base that were doing every kind of drug we could get out hands on. On night there was a big party but my boss did not allow me the time off so I could not go. It turned out that the party was staged by the FBI wing of the military and all my friends were busted and were all still there but awaiting trial so they could be sent to prison. I remember wandering the long, lonely roads at night and feeling very alone. I had gotten a Bible and started to read it but I wasn't getting anywhere as far as understanding. Then one night I read this verse - can't remember which one it was - about Jesus. And it made me realize that Jesus was somehow at the center of all these mysteries. I prayed that night that God would show me if Jesus was true that I could find Him and believe in Him. In short order He answered that prayer and my walk with Him began. It was mid-June 1972. But what I will never forget about those nights was how alone I felt. God bless you in your faith journey; He is there and you will find Him if you keep seeking Him.

Absolutely! The truth is that God is within us, and we can bring ourselves closer to Him as much as we want. It all depends on our faith and intention. When we focus on our spirituality and have true love and faith in our hearts, we can feel God's presence within us. It is a personal journey that happens inside each of us, and understanding God's reality and connecting with Him depends on our own will and spiritual strength.
