Hi Guys,

Just like to introduce myself.

I am a relatively new christian, I got baptised a couple of weeks ago and I hail from London. I hope to find some good christian support and prayer through the forum and would like to offer the same.

I feel that God guided me to seek out this forum! I don't know why, I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I do have one question though, why since I was Baptised has my faith been so challenged and why have I been so tempted to return to my old very un-christian lifestyle ?

Thanks guys, I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the forums.

As for your question, if sin was not so appealing to begin with we'd never start doing it. Sin has a degree of satisfaction to it, but knowing you are living a life pleasing to God becomes more and more pleasing the longer you live it.

Welcome to the forum! I'm looking forward to seeing you grow in Christ every day.

Satan tends to run after believers, old and new, and tempt them the most. He's angry that you're on God's side now. But don't worry, strengthen yourself in the study of God's Word and in prayer. God overcomes all.

Hi and welcome! Good question too.

Before being baptized, you had in you just "ego" (flesh). There was no battle. Now you have both your ego and the spirit in a battle. You can do nothing and let your flesh dictate or you can focus on the more spiritual aspects and let the Spirit itself fight this battle for you. I'd choose the latter, since we know we have no chance of winning the battle on our own. :yes

Hi there, welcome to the site Faithntatoos :wave

Think about this, if Satan had you right where he wanted you would he be battling for you? No. But since you are following after God and have decided to live for Him, it makes perfect sense that Satan would try to throw you off course and get you to destroy your witness for Christ. He has already lost you to God, but he can still try to make you ineffective for the Kingdom :yes

Keep on praying brother, and surround yourself with good examples! God bless :thumb

Thanks for your question Faith. I believe we are tempted because there is a battle between good and evil in this world. Throughout the Bible, there are many explanations:

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Deuteronomy 30:15

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live
Deuteronomy 30:19

Before man is life and death, good and evil; that which he shall choose shall be given him. Ecclesiasticus

If we seek good and follow God's laws (as best as we can :) then our eyes "become opened" to many truths.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved for salvation. This comes through belief in Christ as our Savior. I have gotten closer to Christ and received the Holy Spirit by standing by my faith through rough times and temptation. Everyday is a new day to get closer to God.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Oh, and I'd like to get you into the habit of something, if you're not into already. Whenever you see a verse quoted by someone, or hear it for that matter, take out your Bible and look it up. Chances are, the person quoted it correctly, but wouldn't you rather trust in God's Word than in man?

I always bring my Bible to the computer when I sign onto this forum, because people are quoting verses left and right. :)

Guys,

Thanks for all the support and encouragement, I knew that I had come to the right place :)

It might be easier to find a website that has explanations of the quotes you look up, too.

Hi, and welcome! :wave.

Good question, and I'd like to give an answer but others before me have done so perfectly.

i personally use the bible, but that seems good as well, the holy spirit we recall what i've read and point me to it, sometimes, other times its by my memory, any welcome. when i was young in christ i felt the temptation as well, but u will learn by the word of god how to overcome as the devil will never stop attacking only fleeing and giving us a temporary rest when we resist him.

biblegateway.com is a bible, in fact it's many bible versions, searchable. IMO it's better than a traditional bible.

yes, i see but i have a gift for that area and like being able to use it, jesus gave that to me when i was a babe in christ, i would a whole book and that week go to church and the pastor or sunday school would teach/preach on that book thereby i was edified and able to expound on it.

over the years of laziness i stop reading the word like i should, but i have changed and that gift came back( he aslo recalls verses on that subject i'm looking at gives me a word to say, using a verse,)
