Bible Study Home Churches, and the True Assembling of the Brethren

Did you not see the scripture I provided? Let me requote it,

Here is an indication of renting, and since all the early church believers sold all their homes, yet still broke bread in homes afterwards, it can be easily concluded that this scripture reflects what all the other beleivers in the early church began doing, renting, as to not own any properties, for the sake of humility.
Why would Paul do anything other than rent while he stays in Rome on his way to (hopefully) Spain?
I do think the irresponsible thing would have been for him to buy a house during his temporary stay in Rome from where he hoped to travel to Spain. If he had bought one then the church would have to continue to pay for it and keep it up while he runs off to Spain. But there is no lesson in asceticism in him renting rather than owning a home while visiting Rome awaiting trial--and certainly not a command to that end.

Acts is a history book. Yes some theology can be gleaned from it but not in the fashion done here.

Otherwise the buying and selling of slaves would be endorsed by God...and any other number of sins.

Hi Jethro, I also believe that Paul, by his own admission was materialy poor, For he often had to work as a tent or sail maker to support his travels so as to not take from the churches. He often went without food and shelter to labor for our Lord. And sometimes he would stay with relatives (I think Scripture tells us of a sister.(Acts 23:16)

Any church could /would be great if it wasn't made up of people... Home church mega church not much different.. It is the people...

Gods word is never changing as it is the same yesterday, today and forever, but man loves to twist it to justify what they want to believe. Gain is well in it's own right as long as it comes honestly and not by deceit and it's up to us as good stewards of how we manage gain. Are we going to give a little so we have much or are we going to give as to be pleasing to the Lord in that of Matthew 25:34-40.

Personally I would rather rent as this frees up my giving to others as I have not the concern of house repairs, taxes, insurance Etc. Etc. I have as yet to ever pay over $400 a month for rent. This earth is my temporary home and as long as I have breath and my wits about me I will have church either in my home, an opened field or anywhere under the heavens as for when I am there is God with me. I refuse to step into a so called church that teaches from man's interpretations just for societies sake as it is those type of churches that leaves Christ knocking at their door, but refuse Him entrance, Matthew chapter 23.

You quote Acts 2:45 as proof they sold their homes, yet in Acts 2:46 it says they broke bread in their homes together.
Right. It doesn't say they sold their homes.
Act 2:44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

Houses are not the same as possessions and goods.

In San Jose, California, a 2-bedroom apartment will run you about $2700 a month.
That's city life!!! Born a country girl will die a country girl. Lived in the big city one time, but had enough of that mess. The area I live in is a very hard pressed area for jobs so rent can be pretty cheap. We rent a three bedroom, one bath and half a basement home with with a huge yard for $400 and have been here 10 years now.

I'm glad I never bought a house. We were about to at one point, but I had just got layed off for the slow season, so I decided to take the test to be a contractor. I figured that I'd fail it but at least I'd have my score so would know how close I was.

I smoked the test. (I'm a good test taker, lol) So we went in business and put the house on hold...good thing too, cuz I bet she would've took it in the divorce. Now it's like what was already said, I don't feel like I'm from this earth so why bother buying lol.

Yes, we do have an understanding of our place here on earth.
But buying a home should be a question of economics, and that differs for each one of us.

Sounds great! Where?

The second picture looks kind of...idyllic. How is it living out there?
First pic is me and the second one was taken as we were riding over one of the old railroad bridges and I stopped on the bridge to take the pic of the river below us. It's like a slice of paradise where I live. Truly Gods country
