How are you preparing for Christmas? We all know we celebrate His birth (the remembrance). Not that Christ was born on the 25th. Apart from His birth things....a lot of things happen during this period. Things get crazily expensive. And people become extravagant in spending. Prizes go high:shocked! Fashion designers make a lot of money! Fastfood and restraunts, cafés etc make a lot of money. (I love Christmas: we celebrate His birth... Also those women perform wonders in kitchens and getting the belly busy;))..................At the same time a lot of awful things happen: immorality at its climax. Dunno y

PS: I must admit that we are also looking for ways to reduce the names on the list; e.g., emaling Christmas wishes, etc., if appropriate.

We decorate pretty soon after Thanksgiving. Not as much as I would like, due to limited funds, but we try to make the house look festive.

@farouk, we have used a concept in the past where we eliminate people on our Christmas card list who did not send one back, or at least respond in some way.

Yes, well, often there is a question of whether an older person, say, who finds it inconvenient to have a long list for Christmas cards, might yet appreciate the ongoing contact. It's not so much about receiving in return; more whether the overall context is 'appropriate' and of course for everyone this will differ just a bit.

Of course you will want to add some other criteria to the paring down of your list, but it is a place to start.

And it's the period when the handles to the toilet doors are regularly fixed or replaced.;)

i put up some christmas lights.
we have the only lights in the neighborhood.
i hope people see us as being the light of the neighborhood.

i've added Hanakkuh, not that i really know how to celebrate it.
but what i do is share the hanakkuh story with other christians.
i'm surprised at how few know the story.

but hanakkuh is a time to remember.
the jews purified the temple and rededicated it to God.

being the christmas season and all, it's a good time to remember to rededicate our lives to Jesus.
