How Can You Nitpick the Bible?

true, but the guy still will be punished for the crime if he commits murder, murder still get punished.

and the miltiary law is based on the constitution and traditions of the european armies and washington's ideas.

i wonder how some say that theres no black and white deal with the concept of war, when it appears that way.

theres no person to watch over you that makes you do the right thing. its DISCIPLINE that does it, discipline is doing the right thing when no one is watching.

you live by this obvuiously, all the truth is relative, then is that not relative as well and changeable? if its a fact then you have just contradicted yourself as theres no truth.

define what is good to you then why should i accept that? as no one in the idea of grey shades would have to. its all opinion.

I am curious, CL, do you realize how arrogant you sound?

Are you also aware that Jesus believed in the absolute (as you would say extreme) literalness of the Bible? So... Is Yahweh a drunkard than? :confused Is Jesus a depressed Son of God?

And it is interesting you say addiction, because you are the one who is conforming the Bible to allow you to court the addiction of sin.

Jason black and white all or nothing thinking is a sign of mental disturbance. I didn't make that up. It is a symptom. You know some psychology. It is a sign of depression and addiction for sure. It isn't healthy. My acknowledgment of this fact doesn't mean that I don't think there is no right from wrong. Don't you understand how silly your extreme examples are?

Intent plays a big roll in murder cases. Murder 1, 2 voluntary vs involuntary manslaughter. The intent of of the person being charged is usually what decides the charge.

You come off as a angry arrogant young man. Always with I argued with so and so professor or with this or that person.

Maybe one day you will realize you don't have all the answers.

Extreme, thinking is a sign of mental distress. I think you should really check out the adult children of alcoholics site.

I do not respond to ad hominem attacks, it insults the intellect of everyone who is trying to carry on a proper debate.

I am not insulting anyone. I am simply pointing out attitude and behavior. Extreme thinking is a sign of mental distress. Addiction is often characterized by extreme thinking.

Personal gripes WILL be addressed via PM or you will be booted. I'm not kidding. :grumpy

I got a problem with another member's personality, take it up in private please.

That was a typo. I meant, IF you got a problem...

... and it wasn't meant for you, it was meant for coffee. I shouldn't have assumed as much. Sorry. :yes

Its sad that this kind of question has to asked, you can't nitpick the bible with any kind of authority. After all it was inspired by someone much greater than any of us. Yet people want to try to dissect it. So in their wisdom if you take Genesis account of creation or the 6 days of creation as just a good storyline. Well then what about the road to salvation and eternal life. Jesus's birth, death, and resurection. After all is that just another part of bible?

Hey coffeelover, try to drink more coffee to stimulate your mind .... :D

Actually you're also exhibiting a form of extreme thinking here, especially for someone who calls yourself a "Christian" .

Perhaps you're one of those that nitpicks the bible ... :shrug

People who nitpick the Bible and adamantly argue against parts which they assume to be false seem to claim superiority over the good old church fathers and Jewish council that helped put the inspired Word of God together. Who is to say today which parts are true and which are false? No one. We believe that everything from Genesis to Revelation is the inspired Word of God as it was given to us by the early Church.
