I would like to do certain charity work, I 90% feel like God has given me a vision and a calling to do this, but I’m having doubts as to whether my desires are from god or from myself because I don’t completely have the resources. Any advice?

Basic Christianity, you want advice talk to your minister.

If you are seeking to serve God you will already helping in your church, and learning more about Christianity.
Your leaders will have seen you working and will have an idea of your capabilities so will be able to advise you.

You don't say what the charity work is, again your minister will be aware of the charity and will be able to give you advise and even recommend you.

However, if you don't belong to a church, rather than doing charity work, make finding a church that can help you grow as a Christian your top priority.

Anything that comes to us in giving to help others is a condition of love you have in your heart. As long as you are doing this in the continued works of Christ and not for self gain then you are being a faithful servant to Him in helping others.

What are the particulars? Are you giving up a job to do so? What is the price you’ll pay to do so? The desire sounds good but how is it to be lived out? Is there any sound reason not to do charity work like you’ll have so source of income?

I don't get it . . . you entire reply to the OP is generally negative. Instead of being a source of discouragement, I would find a way to become encouraging. I think you likely mean well . . . but my goodness . . . let us be an encouragement to each other.

Hebrews 3:13 NIV - "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness."

Being a discouragement can push certain people to the edge of denying Christianity and walking away.

Praying for wisdom and discernment is probably a good initial step. And…

I don’t think one has to have 110 percent saintly motives for God to use the work. Personal opinion take it or reject it as you deem fit.

My initial thought was, what does it matter? Whether you are doing good because it is God inspired, just you being you, or you living a Christian lifestyle it's all good, isn't it? Whether from God or out of your own desire, do it all to the glory of God. That is what we are called to do.

31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV

Telling someone to talk to a person who knows them is not being negative.
As is telling them they should be activ involved with there church.

When one knows nothing about a person or their plans it is irresponsible to encourage them to go ahead.
