Thanks Fembot :)

The thing is, while those reasons may be true some of the time, they are not true ALL of the time. So too say definitively that "pork will kill you" is misleading. Smoking kills, but not all of the time...cars kill, but not all of the time.

Breathing 'kills' any more.
We moved last November from a city in NY state where the pollutants were literally 'killing' us. Maybe not in a year, but the stuff in the air and the ground were toxic enough to the human body.
I guess I need to stop breathing now too ?
:)

Breathing kills. But not breathing kills faster. So I guess they are both a sin. The good news is that you will sin less or for a shorter amount of time by not breathing. :)

Hi Fembot.

I know that this is aimed at another member, but I feel compelled to make a few observations.

1. Eating Pork is not a sin.
2. Eating Pork does not cause heart disease.
3. Eating Pork does not cause one to be over weight.

Let me clarify.

I am 42 years old.
I am 5'-10
I weigh 156 lbs.
My blood tests came back two weeks ago. My cholesterol levels are very good. Better than most and I love chips!

I eat pork on a monthly basis. Albeit, pork is not a daily staple.

I have heart disease. I have a bicuspid aortic valve with mild stenosis and moderate regurgitation which causes mild pulmonary hypertension. I also have an aortic aneurysm measuring 4.1 When it reaches 4.5, I'll go in for open heart surgery to have the base of my aorta and valves replaced / repaired. The bicuspid aortic valve is not due to lifestyle or diet. It's a tissue defect. The aneurysm is the result of the insufficiency of the bicuspid valve, which again, is a tissue defect from when my organs were forming in the womb.

There are many other heart diseases that are caused while the child is still in the womb. Take for example the holes in the heart that stay open until you take that fist breath, and then they are supposed to close. This falls under congestive and there are two main types depending on which hole does not close, or when / if the hole closes. Life outside the womb certainly is a miracle!

Smoking does more to agitate heart disease than pork could ever poke a stick at and when it comes to cholesterol and how it affects the arteries, which in turn impacts the heart because it has to pump harder to push the blood, which of course raises blood pressure... a good diet and moderation along with regular exercise is the key regardless if you have heart disease or not.

As far as worms, those arn't the only worms that one can get. I have a well, which means I have to maintain the safety of our drinking water myself. Often, untreated water has micro worms and other bacteria to which most of them are harmless while others can be deadly.

Getting back to diet though, it has been shown that having an acidic PH balance (which most people have) can cause more damage than high cholesterol in the long run.... and having an acidic PH has little to do with pork.

:twocents

What happened to all that information you posted in your OP Fembot? :confused I think that may be helpful to the discussion.

Thiought you posted this in the OTHER thread. It disappeared from there. So did my first post here... :confused

That's odd isn;t it.

I Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Paul the Apostle said this about things being lawful or no. I believe its Trichinosis the reason
for not eating pork, if we cook our food properly there shouldn't be any reason why pork con
not be eaten, and there are those of us that take offense at the idea. Both Jews and Muslims
take that law to heart and some Christians as well, but we are no longer under the law..
in Christ Jesus...

I Corinthians 8: 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

Wow Fembot, that was an amazing video! Thanks for sharing! :thumb

Just think, a simple hand washing could have eliminated the whole ordeal!

Have you ever noticed the patter of the OT sacrificial rites? They were told to wash the parts before placing them on the alter as well their hands :yes

As I said in Dave's thread is eating pork a sin:

I don't believe that eating pork s a sin. I do, however,, believe that killing yourself is a sin. What are we doing when we consciously choose to consume an animal that will eventually bring us death?
Not sometimes-ALWAYS. How many obese people live longer than a healthy person that eats well?

How much fat is there in a serving of pork?

A message from the Health Corporation of Singapore about the Bad effects of pork consumption. Pig's bodies contain MANY TOXINS, WORMS and LATENT DISEASES.

Although some of these infestations are harboured in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far MORE PREDISPOSED to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because PIGS like to SCAVENGE and will eat ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta including their own, garbage, and other pigs. INFLUENZA (flu) is one of the MOST famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is haboured in the LUNGS of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and human in the cooler months.

Eating pork can also lead to GALLSTONES and OBESITY, probably due to its HIGH CHOLESTEROL and SATURATED FAT content. The pig is the MAIN CARRIER of the TAENIE SOLIUM WORM, which is found in its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has TRICHINOSIS from eating trichina worms, which are found in pork.

Imagine how many people die of tumors and other ailments never knowing it was because of their love for pork?

If God says that we shouldn't eat something, why find reasons to argue with God?

“You are the temple of God†(I Cor. 3:16).

“And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth
not the cud; he is unclean to youâ€Â

“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch,
they are unclean to you.â€Â

Leviticus 11:7-8

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy
“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud,
it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their
dead carcass.â€Â

Deuteronomy 14:8

If you won't smoke, why eat something that will eventually kill you?
Sometimes you get hit running through traffic, sometimes you won't. Does that reasoning make it ok to run through traffic? Um, no.

Stove

a good diet and moderation along with regular exercise is the key regardless if you have heart disease or not.

WHy am I having dejavu..lol. That is a valid point and one I forgot to mention. Of course other things factor into the equation. Point is, the Bible says it's unhealthy. It has been proven to be unhealthy and that's it. But I don't really care to judge anyone. My concern is getting both sides of the opinions out there. Anyone who claims eating pork frequently is not harmful is someone that is not seeking the information that exists and ignoring one of God's teachings. But to each his own...

Nobody is perfect. We all have shortcomings. Eat all the pork you want, pollute God's temple, be 300 lbs. It is not my business. I'm just stating the fact of the matter.

I found it! I backspaced to the point where I first composed it. I guess I never hit submit. :lol

Thanks Fembot, for carrying this over to it's own thread.

I'm not so much worried over what can or cannot kill me. I have come to grips that one of these days will be my last day of life on this planet. I'm more concerned over those things I do that hurt my relationship with the Lord, while I am still alive on the good earth of HIS.

I know pork and ham can be bad sometimes, especially when undercooked. I also know it's dangers have greatly exaggerated over the years. Here is one example, including an effort to break the chain of propagating errant info:

http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/porkcoke.html

My grandfather used to tell us, "Everything in moderation."

yes, yes, that old word moderation. I adressed the worms in pork by posting the youtube video. I can't understand what she's saying in the first 20 seconds, but the rest is interesting. The music reminds me of my neice! :lol

Me 300 lbs :rolling

Anyway, lets look at some simple facts ok?
Since Cholesterol is a silent killer, lets look at Pork verses Lamb.

First, lets look at Pork.
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/pork-products/2277/2
Cholesterol
78.2 mg %DV 26%
Total Fat
5.7 g %DV 9%

Now lets look at Lamb
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/lamb ... cts/4669/2
Cholesterol
1683 mg %DV 561%
Total Fat
29.6 g %DV 46%

From the surface, it looks like I'd get fat quicker and clog my arteries quicker by eating lamb...

Hmmmm. Heroin or crack? Lemme see :D
