How is it that these devils could believe they seen the Son of God in the flesh? Are they of God?

They must be according to some, because they believe it says that every spirit that confesseth that Jesus is come in the flesh, is of God??
What about all the unbelievers in the world that believe history and they believe that Jesus came in the flesh and died on the cross?
Why they too must be of God, Right? Wrong!
So, just who are these antichrist spirits scripture is speaking of then?
And exactly why would the devils feel tormented around our kind, loving, gentle Jesus do you think?

Matt 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
KJV

It is because it is hard for them to see or hear the Word and torment for them to receive the Word in Their flesh.
These verses in 1John 4:1, are not talking about him being born in a flesh body, but showing us of how to test the spirits of a man rather he be of God’s Spirit or an antichrist spirit.
All who can not accept the Truth of the Word to indwell their flesh are of the anti-Christ, against- the Word spirit. For to them it is pure torment to even be around the name of Jesus as in The Christ of God or anyone else who teaches of the Truth of him.
Ever have someone to tell you to shut up about Jesus or hit you because you talk about the Word of God and they hate you for it? Know this, they are not of God’s Spirit or they too would love to hear all about the Word to get it down inside of their hearts of flesh.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

KJV

It did not occur to me until now, that some of you may have misunderstood me to say that Jesus was not born in a flesh body. I would never say such a thing, for we know that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and for 3-1/2yrs had his ministry and died on the cross in our place.
I am saying that the verses in 1John 4:2 and 2nd John 7 are not referring to rather Jesus was born in a flesh body, but that it is saying that if he is not in us come in our flesh, we are not of God.
If you only had to believe that Jesus was born in a flesh body to prove you were of God, then the two devils would have also been of God, and we KNOW that they are not of God, so these verses can not be meaning that rather or not you believe that Jesus was born on the earth in a flesh body.
If you have misunderstood me, please forgive me. I never meant to cause anyone to think such a thing intentionally .
The last line tells us what the topic of him being in the flesh is.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It states that they were possessed with devils, thus I assume they were.
James 2:19
Thou believeth that there is one God, thou doest well, the devils also believe, and tremble.

Torment us before our time?
Yep, when death and hell is cast into the Lake of Fire, they will be tormented. (Rev.20:10,14)

In Job 1:6,7
Now there was a day when the sons of God (Angels) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
The Lord asked Satan , where have you been?, Satan answered, going to and fro in the earth, and walking up and down in it.

Thus, yes, I believe they recognized Him (Jesus).

So then you must see that if they knew Jesus come in the flesh, these verses I gave can not be talking about just someone believing that Jesus was born of flesh, otherwise they too would be of God right?

I really don't understand what you are getting at.
Ezek.18:4
Behold, all souls are mine, as the soul of the Father, so also the soul of the Son is mine, the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

I really don't understand what you are getting at.

She's asking whether or not the demons that recognized Jesus were "of God".

I believe she's working off of this verse.

1 John 4
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

That's what I see anyway.
.

I'll try again, lol.
Yes, I think I know what you are saying,:thinking

You have to do more than just believe? The devils believe!
As in John 14:20-24
If a man love me, he will keep my words and my Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him.....,,..

Thanks, Gary, I think I got it,lol.
Satan believes this, always wanted to destroy the Christ seed.
Thus, the question is,
Is Satan of God?

The antichrist is a Spirit that doesn't see the purpose of the Christ come in the flesh.

Examples: Christ Consciousness, Jesus was just a man, Jesus is just an analogy for love, Jesus just showed up magically - not born through a woman. Jesus doesn't really have God as his literal father.

I didn't really answer the question of the thread. 1 John is speaking to human Spirits. The supernatural Spirits (demons/angels) already know what is what. The demons know who exactly Jesus is and they are scaarredd.

Thus, the question is,
Is Satan of God?

What are the requirements or qualities for being "of God"?

I don't believe someone can say they are of God simply because they know who Jesus is. So I think there has to be a certain amount of purity or righteousness in anything or anyone who claims to be of God. I don't believe Satan falls into that category. I don't believe the demons that recognized Jesus were of God either. God may have used them, but that doesn't make them of God.

Just my take.

Yes I see what you are saying, but I was thinking on the lines, that God created Satan, and that all souls belong to God.
I agree with your post, there are some requirements.

Reading all 3 Books of John give a clear context the verse 1John 4:1,4.
Give them a re-read see what you think the focus of what God is saying is...

Very good Gary,
You are starting to see. If the devils confessed Jesus in his flesh body, and they clearly are not of God. Then those verses are Not talking about him coming in his flesh body. They are saying that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. It is talking about Jesus coming in our flesh, living IN us as we are conformed into the image of Christ, the Word must indwell a true believer to be born of God!

Wrong. This verse Is very much about His incarnation. The unique God Man. 100% true humanity and undiminished Deity in one person Forever and ever.

What your overlooking is ONE key word.
1 John 4
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

There are many spirits that will confess that Jesus came in the flesh. But the ones that confess that He was flesh(Jesus) and Christ(God Himself) are of God.

Most Jews believe Jesus came in the Flesh. But they do not Believe He was God(Christ.)

Jesus Christ does not and will not come into our flesh. We are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
1 Cor 5:17~~New American Standard Bible
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Ok, So you we are back to square 1, You believe, since the devils recognized him as THE SON OF GOD, is that good enough the same as The Christ for you?, that they Are of God, Does that sound right to you?
Matt 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

A natural reading of the passage strongly suggests that it is in fact speaking of Jesus in the flesh. Note that verse 1 mentions false prophets, the whole reason why we are not to believe every spirit but rather test them. John is addressing what these false prophets were saying. It is quite possible that these false prophets were early Gnostics--they believed that all matter was evil and that spirit was good, hence their need to deny that Jesus had a body of flesh.

You do realize that salvation is never mentioned for the fallen angels right?

And that "spirits" in 1 john 4:2 is "personalities" or to be blunt......us(humans)?

Hello Free,
Actually, there are many false prophets who are only pasturing sheep to get their money and they have no intensions of adhering to the Word of God or keeping the sheep safe. They do not have the Word indwelling them they are hired shepherds. But only those who are able to accept the Word who love and honor to allow him come into their flesh to be their Lord to obey, are of God. Many can fake it, and you will know who they are because they don't know the Word himself at all and especially don't follow Christ. If you take a look at this last line, it will tell you that it is talking about him in us, not him in earth in a flesh body.
