Recently one of my pastor friends illustrated what exactly 'what one does and one could be said to have sinned against the Holy Spirit'.

I used to think this particular sin is something very deep and hard to understand. I thought it's all about false prophecies, speaking in tongues falsely, etc

he said, and I summarise: It is all about hypocricy. That is, you are now doing those things you were against before...

Do you mean "blasphemy" against the Holy Spirit? That is the state of continued unbelief of God.

Now is that an accurate summation?
People were hypocrites long before anyone received the Holy Spirit.
And so, what was his point?
That every sin we as saved Christians commit is against the Holy Spirit?
Every sin we commit is against God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
So what is his point?

Hypocricy is not the unforgivable sin :confused

The following sin was a sin unto physical death.

Acts 5:3 Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost . .

Act 5:4 . . thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

when man deliberately does that which he was formerly against and preached against

What is Christ right now?. I guess he is a Holy Spirit and he is the only one who gives the Holy Spirit, and he said I am the Way the Truth and the Life.

I guess it can only be the rejection of Christ.
Do you believe in the Trinity?

Im still learning. That why when i comment on things scripture related i say 'I think' or 'I guess'.

Do i beleive in trinity. It kind of leads that way but as i said im still learning.
Yes,God the Father,God the Son,and God the Holy Spirit. Each of them have their own destintive roles.

when man deliberately does that which he was formerly against and preached against
So he answers this by saying it is a sin against the Holy Spirit.
So I ask again, what is his point of singling this sin against just the Holy Spirit?
What's he trying to say?
What are you trying to ask?
I don't understand.

Im still learning. That why when i comment on things scripture related i say 'I think' or 'I guess'.

Do i beleive in trinity. It kind of leads that way and it sure can fit, but as i said im still learning.
That's good. The day you begin declaring that you KNOW, is the day you may start to realize that something is probably wrong.

I guess it can only be the rejection of Christ. To reject Chrsit is to reject his Holy Spirit and messenger.

I agree with you that it is rejection of Christ, Kathi said the same.
I don't think one can sin against the Holy Spirit and not be sinning against the Father and Son as well. They are three but One.

What scripture did he give you?

The sin that can not be forgiven like I said above is unbelief in Jesus Christ the Risen Son of God.
If this is it actually, would it be right to conclude that all Jews are guilty here (and except our beloved Jason here and some others who have believed?). ....And they will not be forgiven? And when they turn to Christ?
