I can never be okay and content with God's decision to allow people to suffer forever and ever and ever because of the mistakes they made in this short life or their disbelief. Isn't 100 years of suffering enough, or 100,000 years God? Don't let them suffer forever! I can never reconcile with God if he would permit people to be in agony for eternity. He could stop it at any time and he chooses not to. It makes me very upset and my hope and prayer is that it isn't true.

14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! 15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”
16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
17 For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.”
18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?”
20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?”
21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,
24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

25 As He says also in Hosea:
“I will call them My people, who were not My people, and her beloved, who was not beloved.”
26 “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’
There they shall be called sons of the living God.”

27 Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel:
“Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved.
28 For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.”

29 And as Isaiah said before:
“Unless the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom,
and we would have been made like Gomorrah.”

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1

Have you given Conditional Immortality any thought?

I believe that God is a just judge and has told us that he will destroy the wicked. While that isn't good news, and should cause us to weep for those who will not be a part of God's New Creation, we shouldn't be led astray to think that God finds justice in torturing people for all eternity.

I recommend the following.

1. Give the theology another look.
2. Don't put yourself over God and judge his actions
3. Repent for exalting your judgment above God's.

Yes but I was a sociopath at one time. In seven years I changed dramatically. I can only imagine how much some wicked person could change in 700,000 years. They deserve a second chance. This life is extremely short!

God will save whomever can be saved. 700,000 years won't change someone who does not respond to the Gospel in this life. God knows people's hearts. He knows who will repent, and who will not. He knows what circumstances to place in His people's lives to get them to respond to the Gospel.

"God knows your hearts." Luke 16:15b NIV

His is very smart, in a way we can't even fathom.

As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

I think we must be careful about lowering God to our standard rather than raising ourselves to His.

Luke 16:
27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,
28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’
29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’
30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’
31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

Someone did rise from the dead and give us the warning but we still refuse to listen.

How many centuries have we been given the warning so far? The message has been written for nearly 6,000 years and yet you say we don't have enough time to hear it. The truth is, we don't want to hear it and we think by allowing us more time we will. No, we just want more time to goof off.

Good man! Why are you worried so much about others. You have born into this world because of His Will. You reasoning is only because of His Will. Your sound mind is because of His will. Anyways Keeping It Short Simple - When you get into eternity, all your questions will be answered.

There are many christians that do not believe in eternal suffering (but rather in a second and ultimate death, which means the end of one's existence, thus no more suffering). The Bible does give some indication to believe in a second and final death rather than eternal hellfire.

Please thoroughly read from the gospels of what Jesus described about getting into hell and consequences thereof and you concept will be changed.

Mark 9:43-48 says, "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and thefire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

Jesus indeed does say much about Hell. There are forty-six verses in which Jesus speaks on Hell, this is not counting any of the Old Testament.

I think Matthew was talking about this when the Holy Spirit wrote about that unforgiving servant:
Matthew 18:28 said:
"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

Can I expect to be forgiven when I do not myself forgive? Romans 14:10 asks why we try to judge our brothers. Some try to judge and say, "They owe ME!" "They are guilty!" -and- "I demand JUSTICE!" Others may try to judge and pronounce innocence, thinking wrong that if they forgive others they too will be forgiven. The fact is that each of us have sinned against God. Each shall give account to Him (not to me, not to you). We will be judged and it is given to us to prepare ourselves now, even today.

God has not given his assurance that all shall be saved no matter what. But read again to seek His heart in this:

Isaiah 45:23
By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.
Philippians 2:10
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Numbers 14:21,28
But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory …

You will not be called to give account for your brother or your neighbor but only for yourself. Same as me. It is to us then to obey God now in order to know what He means when He says, "I will repay."

Revelation 22:12 said:
"Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

No worries my friend, it isn't true. God does not let people suffer forever.

because i hate the fact that others suffer. I also fear my own salvation. The Bible says a lot of things and I have no guarantee of salvation. "If you are lukewarm I will spit you out"-Christ.

Rev 20:13-14 NIV The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. (14) Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

It seems unbelivers ( those not written in the Book of Life ) will be judged by Yahweh's Holy standards according to what they have done. We have no idea how to judge righteously because we can't see a persons heart/intention behind what they do. It seems punishment will be according to the sins of the whole life with the biggest punishment/loss being missing out on Eternal Life. The punishment won't be pleasant.

You hope the word of God isn't true?

'The gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.'

Do you think the eternal fire is going to go out some day?

They hate God. They hate his Son. Do you think God is going to let them into the kingdom some day?

I only pray and hope you are right

You don't have to worry the Scriptures are pretty clear on this issue. The idea that people will suffer for eternity is drawn from a few misunderstood passages.

David,
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. (Psa 37:9 KJV)
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. (Psa 37:10 KJV)
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. (Psa 37:20 KJV)
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. (Psa 37:38 KJV)

Jesus,
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:16 KJV)
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Mat 10:28 KJV)

Paul,
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom 6:23 KJV)

Peter,
KJV 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2Pe 2:1 KJV)

John,
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Rev 21:8 KJV)

You see, over and over it is said that the wicked are destroyed, or they perish, they are no more. That means they don't suffer for eternity. John said the wicked will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Notice he calls it the "Second Death," It's only the second death if they die. If they were in there forever then it wouldn't be death.

One of the reasons this doctrine exists is that some don't consider that the word eternal can be understood in more than one way. Most people think of eternal life as ongoing life, it can mean that, but it can also mean permanent life. Something that is eternal is permanent. Let's look at an example from the scriptures. Peter said that God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sin.

4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; (2Pe 2:4-6 KJV)

Peter said that God turned the cities into aches as an example to those who would life ungodly. Jude also speaks of this event.

6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. {first estate: or, principality}
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jud 1:6-7 KJV)

Jude said that Sodom and Gomorrah are examples of eternal fire. Peter said they were burned to ashes. We can look in the middle east and see that those two cities are not still burning today. However, their destruction is eternal. To my knowledge no one even knows for sure where exactly these two cities were. Their suffering the vengeance of eternal fire means they were utterly destroyed. That is what is also said of the wicked, they will be destroyed. I hope this helps.

Do any of them say that people will burn eternally? I don't think you'll find that. Gehenna is a real place outside of Jerusalem, it is the valley of Hinom. It cannot be a place of eternal burning because Jeramiah l prophesied that even Gehenna would be restored and made holy to the Lord.

38 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
(Jer 31:38-40 KJV)
