I am new to christianity more or less and am also trying to stop drinking. I want to turn a new page in my life for my daughter. I am finding it very hard to stop drinking far harder than I ever thought. I don't want to give up or back slide and any prayers may help.

Dear Father, only through Your grace are we able to be delivered from the world, and its draw on us. As I read Father, it is You working in us to will and to do of Your good pleasure and that continues until we are with Christ face to face. Please help this dear woman learn that there is no condemnation to those that come to you, and allow her to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Help her now with the withdrawal she is experiencing and allow her the victory for her own health, and for the love that she has for her daughter she so wants to please. Thank You Father for hearing me this day, have Your way in her life, and heal her as only You can in Jesus' name. Amen.

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

Quitting drinking is **tough**. Just know that God knows how hard it is for you. He also knows how important it is for you to curb your drinking so you can be the mother and Christian woman He has called you to be. God has been quite patient with me in my own struggles (homosexuality, mental illness, drugs), and He loves you just as much.

You and your daughter are in my prayers.

On a practical note, check out Orthomolecular Medicine. Helped me get off Valium. www.doctoryourself.com

Just a suggestion...not pushing anything on you. It just uses lots of cheap vitamins to get you well (I'm not selling anything--just providing info). Fixing addictions, particularly alcohol, should always involve a push towards greater overall health.

I love this. :thumbsup

Shandy,
I will pray that you will remember that you can do anything for a day, just a day, one day at a time. I pray that your daughter will be comforted and encouraged by the strength and determination you show in loving her and doing what's best for her. I pray that you will find support around you, people who do not drink and who have overcome addiction and can be there for you when you need them. I pray that you will discover the root cause of why you started drinking, so that you will more fully heal and live the life you were born to live.

When we get saved we then step into a spiritual warfare and satan doesnt play fair to say the least..we have to get in the Word of God, stay in the Word of God and be rooted and grounded in the Word of God to become strong in the faith or we can be easily swayed by satan's temptations..

I think every child of God should ask themeselves ,do I truly want to serve God, and if so get about the Father's business..

we need a mind set and heartset to serve Him and serve Him with a whole heart or we are going to be back and forth and back and forth in the things of this world.

The Prophet Isaiah said, I have set my face like a flint that I will not be ashamed in that day

in other words he had made up his mind that there wasnt a devil in hell or out that was going to prevent him from serving our Lord..

may I encourage you sister to stay in the Word, stay in prayer, and stay in the house of God where u can be ministered too and fed the good Word of God and not only that but the wonderful fellowship with the brethren..

lifting you in prayer
God bless
