I just posted that on my Facebook page 1/2 hour ago!

And I DID laugh. OH, did I laugh!

WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much horsepower applied there, and he hit the brakes ... should have just let off the gas. He DID turn into the swerve, but by applying brakes he sealed his fate.

I suspect it was "Dad's car" and this idiot had no idea what he was doing. Because it is clear he had no idea what he was doing. This was a saveable situation up to the 52 seconds mark - when he nailed the brakes and sealed his fate.

Had he done that in a turn on the Dragon, he'd be over the side of the mountain.

Do not feel guilty for laughing. And I like how he was trapped in the car face to face with innocent drivers like that. I hope the police nailed him for wreckless/careless driving.

Now, if you want to see a guy who can DRIVE a car... play this video.
Notice the speeds (digital readout in front of the camera is speed in MPH) these guys are running - and at 1:38 they start to catch up to a guy in a Mercedes. He slows them down a little, but not much. THis is the "Dragon" in TN, speed limit is 30 the whole 11 miles and many people won't even go that fast. I've hit 80 before, but NEVER taken a curve over about 40-42 mph.

At the end, you can see that the bikers are impressed. They seldom have this much fun following a car.

Odd bit of trivia: at 1:40, the car is red, when they get close, it is black. I think this PROVES that it is not a car after all, but a four-wheeled UFO.

I watch it about once a week. I bet they could SMELL the tread coming off his tires!

Seriously, one guy in our club takes his SLK55 up there, and in three days will remove half the tread from his tires.

...... a $1200+ set of tires, that is.

Hey! No hijacking my thread after only four posts! Get your own thread! :lol

I can't imagine how stupid he must have felt, sandwiched between those two cars and not being able to get out! :toofunny Absolutely priceless! What do you do in a situation like that? I'd want to be beamed up to the Enterprise! :lol

Spent the weekend at the "Tail of the Dragon" again... four people ran off the road, two motorcycles, two cars. No injuries and none of them as funny as the one in the OP of this thread.

I'd met the last guy to run off about 1/2 hour earlier, at the "Overlook". I left and ran the three last miles of the Dragon. Sat in the lot for about 1/2 hour talking to some young guys on sport bikes, then they took off, and I chased them, we were having fun, but came around a corner after only going two miles, and there was my new-found friend, he'd made it thru "Whiplash corner" but lost control and spun backwards off the road and hit the rocky wall of the mountain (which is only four feet from the white line). He was hung up in the ditch, too.

As I creeeped by, he was standing there with the state patrol, he yelled (with a smile bigger than I'd have on then): "Hey, Pizza, I hit the wall, I'm out!"

He was driving what looked like a Toyota Celica or something like that. Not QUITE the car you want to push thru those curves. But he had a good attitude! Nice guy, too.

The driving was OK. Deffinately better than the typical mountain cruiser you get stuck behind up there. The dragon is overdriven now due to Killboydotcom and such. Now, if he were leaving tread marks around the curves with a little tire smoke I would give him a :thumbsup. Unfortunately, that is what my daily drive up and down Paris Mountain used to look like when I lived in upstate SC with my old '95 Z28, with the exception of a little sideways action, and am therefore only lukewarm after seeing that vid :lol

Edit: The vid with the Lambo is hillarious! You know when someone revs the motor at a light, they are more than likely clueless on driving a car with that much hp/torque. Serves him right, and a hard lesson learned.
