I follow Jesus, not the Bible.

I think part of this "I follow Jesus, not The Bible" line of thinking is rooted in the perception of Christians as mean-spirited, judgmental, hypocritical, hyper-conservative "Bible Thumpers" (to use a term hurled at me once).

In the US, part of that is probably because the Religious Right became so involved in politics that now, when the country is overall trending left, Evanglicals (in particular) and Christians (as a whole) are regarded with suspicion.

That is probably true to some extent, but if you are standing on the Rock of Christ....Stay there, For it is hard to kick against the "goads" (a pointed prodding stick). God feels the persecution of His Saints (Acts 9:1-5). ALL born again believers are saints it means "sanctified" in Christ, (except in Catholicism) Saints have to be canonized by The Pope and the ruling Sennett of priest. And usually of a member who has performed a miracle or dedicated service.

Well said Jethro

Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

Shalom
No beauty to the eye, but beauty to the heart and the sin slaved soul.
