I was shocked!!!

There was a time I saw a pastor and his friends (in the pastor's house) gulping bottles of alcohol. They were merrily drinking and chatting exceitedly...as if it was a holy communion service. I was indeed shocked. They probably consumed a ton of alcohol that day.

There is a verse that says: A priest should not take alcohol. And pastors are like priests - everybody is a priest.

You're right Classik. It seems not only the church but even the leaders get farther and farther away from living the life.

How long will we kid ourselves about alcoholic consumption in the church?

I've seen it cause more trouble than any 'good' that someone thinks it is for them. People so sure they can control it fall into the very trouble they were so sure they would not let themselves fall into using it. What a joke.

:amen

funny thing is most of the drunkards started from those tiny glasses...
Soooo true!! They never plan it but it gets ahold of them. All drunkard and alcoholics say they can quit at any time but they can't. They cannot admit they are hooked.

You hang in there Classik :thumbsup :)

I think some have not been close enough to this situation to have lost friends and family due to alcohol to see how devastating it can be. It affects the whole family and relationships in so many ways. Very sad indeed

God saved the woman's life. We nearly lost her...and that was some couple of years ago. She was going somewhere with her friend when a drunken man ran into them, It was a dreadful accident. Her friend just had bruises while she was knocked into a drinage system. (The man finally fled. That was about 15 years ago. Till this day [God forgive me if im being negative] the woman still suffers the impact and 'after effect' of that accident.). Till this day many people drink and drive and are drunk.

There is a verse that says: A priest should not take alcohol. And pastors are like priests - everybody is a priest.

I am aware of no verse that says priests cannot drink. This verse is informative, I believe:

[2] Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, dignified, hospitable, an apt teacher,
[3] no drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and no lover of money. 1 Tim 3:2-3 RSV

I think people should drink as little as possible. I am much happier since I quit drinking.

That was the verse I had in mind from the beginning just figured someone else would post it so didn't look it up.

I'm glad about the decision you made. You won't regret it. :)
