We confess we are sinners in need God's grace for all have fallen short of His glory. We first confess we are a sinner, now we need to repent of our sin so God can blot them out for our sake as He remembers them no more and brings us into the new covenant of God's grace, Isaiah 43:25; Hebrews 8:12, 13.

i fully understand the word REPENT for some reason the word your wrong keeps coming up.in phrase

i have yet to disrespect any one. people take words phrases and run like the wind with them.. to make it plain i disagree with what you say about repenting ..just like i disagreed with others on baptism .

i did not come to my beliefs by jumping on board what others say.

i read it i look things up and study them out. study to show yourself approved.. rightly dividing the truth i have a brother who has been preaching close to 40 years .i respect him but i dont agree with him %100 even though i been in the ministry going on 20 years . if i see a group of people running over the hill i will wonder what they are up to. o may even check it out from a distance .
when i see one person going the opposite direction .. chances are i am to.. . this is as far as i go in explaining my belief // there was many post i agreed with you on.. this one i dont

Hopefully you see that if a brother becomes lost, he needs to repent, and return to God to be reconciled back to Him, otherwise he would remain lost.

The prodigal son is a good example of this.

Yes, we only repent one time as repentance gives us that opportunity to receive a new beginning in our life as God wipes away all our past sin and remembers them no more.

No we do not need to repent as we already confessed we are sinners needing God's grace. Since repent means a change, transform, transfigure, reconsider, going from the old man into the new Spiritual inner man how many times are you going to crucify Jesus on the cross so you can be cleansed by His blood so you can continue to sin.

What does Hebrews 10:26 say. If we sin willfully then there is no more sacrifice for that sin and we will pay whatever consequence that sin will bring about in our life here on earth. If you are truly Christ own you will not willfully sin.

We will always struggle with sin as flesh will always sin, but our Spiritual inner man is seen sinless in the eyes of God as God can not behold evil, Habakkuk 1:12, 13. This is what the Spiritual rebirth from above is all about as God sees our heart for Him. Paul in Romans 7:14-25 struggled with sin even calling himself the chiefest. But even though he sinned in the flesh not wanting to as he knew there was no good thing in the flesh read what he said in verse 24, 25. It's only when Christ returns that we will be delivered from this fleshly body of death, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57. For now we try our best not to sin, but thanks to God His grace abounds towards us when we do. Grace does not give us a license to sin, but forgives us when we do when we are convicted of it.

I just went through every post and no one called you wrong in actually using the word wrong, but showing the areas of disagreement not only with you, but others that disagree. Each one of us have given our beliefs in how we read and study the scriptures. Whether one is taught by man or say they are taught by the Holy Spirit everything has to line up with scripture where all truths are found.

If we do not agree, so be it as when we discuss our indifference's there can be new light brought to us that we did not see or understand before. We are all ever learning and no one will ever exhaust all the teachings in the scriptures.

When others say you don't understand, it only means you are not understanding what they are trying to say for how they are trying to explain things in how they believe. Just graciously take what they say and let them know you will consider it even if you do not agree with them as that is how we keep harmony flowing in discussions.

There have been many times I have taken in consideration of what others said in what they present that changed my way of thinking about things that have caused me to dig deeper in the word. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I don't. If I disagree I will lay it out with scripture why I don't agree and let it there unless they want to discuss it further which I am always willing to do.

By saved do you mean born again; regenerated?

There is a difference between obtaining something by faith, and actually receiving that which we are hoping for.

We will receive the salvation of our soul at the end of our faith; as an end result of continuing in the faith.

I never said repentance wasn't part of our Christian walk. That is the first step we take in accepting God's plan of salvation, being washed in the blood of Christ and being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Are we going to continue crucifying Christ or are we going to strive for that perfection that is in Christ Jesus that will save us in the end.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

when we are broken over our sins be ye angry sin not ...ever say a rather sharp remark that cut some one to the heart. to him who knows to do good and don't is sin . you never have to turn from.

You posted scripture but I'm not sure what you believe it means.

If you reread the posts I had given you, you'd have to agree that it states what your verses state. Here is 2 Corinthians...

2 Corinthians 7:1 LET US TURN AWAY FROM EVERYTHING WRONG.....AND GIVE OUIRSELVES TO HIM ALONE.

This means we do not serve satan, but we REPENT and change our direction and serve God.

2 Corinthians 7:9 IT WAS A GOOD KIND OF SORROW YOU FELT,,,THE KIND OF SORROW GOD WANTS.

This is a great verse and speaks about the difference between Godly sorrow and worldly sorrow. Godly sorrow brings us to repent and brings us closer to Him. Worldly sorrow causes us to become embroiled in desperation which is the playground of satan.

This does, however, confirm the steps I had outlined. First comes sorrow, then repentance, the obedience.

2 Corinthians 7:10 GOD USES SORROW TO HELP US TURN AWAY FROM SIN AND SEEK ETERNAL LIFE.

Sorrow and Repentance are different in biblical terms.
We repent ONE TIME and turn to God and are saved.
We are sorry for our sins EVERY TIME we sin and ask forgiveness.

If you believe what 1 John 1:7 says then what is the purpose of actual water baptism on this side of the cross. I'm not saying it's not important and yes, it does have a purpose, but yet many are not physically capable of being dunked in water. Even the thief on the cross believed by faith that Jesus truly was the Son of God and that day Jesus told him he would be in paradise with Him.

This is John's baptism and Christ baptism, Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

On this side of the cross we are washed in the blood of the Lamb as we are no longer Jew and Gentile, but are Christians. Christian baptism by water symbolizes repentance, cleansing and commitment as it identifies with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and faith in Him.

John's baptism of repentance was a foreshadow what Jesus would accomplish with His finished works on the cross. The blood of bulls and goats could not accomplish anything, Hebrews 10:4-6, nor does actual water as it's only by the blood of Jesus for both Jew and Gentile now called Christians since that day in Antioch, Acts 11:19-26.

There is nothing wrong with being dunked in water if it is first properly taught what the importance is, but to know it is only an outward appearance to others of a commitment you have decided to make to Christ.

All Christians believe Jesus is the savior - and for this reason.
Just as the blood saved the Israelites in Exodus.

I used to believe just as you do...that baptism is symbolic.
But I started to study the Early Church Fathers (those that came immediately during or after the Apostles) because of all these differing ideas I thought that THEY, of all persons, should know what the Apostles taught - who were in turn taught by Jesus.

The ECF's do believe that we are saved by the blood of Christ.
But they also teach that baptism washes away sin. Now, how to reconcile the two is still a mystery to me...but so are other ideas:
Such as the Soverreignty of God and man's free will, for instance.

So I've come to the belief that just because I don't understand something, does not mean I should discard it.

Jesus told the Apostles to baptize, verses regarding baptism do speak of how it cleanses us. I don't think Jesus said to do anything so as to symbolize something...can you think of something??

The ECF's taught that baptism welcomes us into the family, or Kingdom, of God...
