If CF.net were to be a church...what would be its denomination? :dunno :shrug :confused.

Non-denominational, considering the many differing viewpoints. There are those here who come from Baptist, Reformed, Methodist, Lutheran, RCC, etc... I don't think we could ever come to an agreement on a specific denomination.

Well. Certain posts and thoughts are deleted here. What does it say to you???

That depends. There are some posts that are deleted for the mere fact they are too far off topic. Others are deleted for being inflammatory. There are many reasons for posts to be deleted. If you are referring to posts that have doctrinal/theological ramifications then it would be those that stray too far from the statement of faith of this site, which arguably, could be considered a statement of faith of any non-denominational church.

Could we classify the site's SOF under a particular denom?

Other than non-denom, what denom would you consider it to be mostly aligned to?

We should be a denomination dedicated to abolishing denominations. There is only one church.

Non-denominational. Possibly leaning towards evangelical in policies?

Possibly, yes; when we speak of a church, though, this includes practising baptism and the Lord's Supper, which is not a website's mission, though these can be discussed, of course.

Blessings.

Denominations are not a bad thing to me.....

I wont eat MCDonnalds but I like Taco Bell ......Why not have a few choices.. Some folks like the real formal stuff ( my sister does) I am more the old fashion camp meeting type...We would do better to celebrate what we have in common, JESUS, then our differences...

It would appear that everyone is in favor of a catholic church, just not the Roman catholic church.

Well, yes. Some people have their own preferences. My old church was the old-fashioned, "country church in the city" type. My family liked that. I've developed different preferences, personally.

I don't think there's anything wrong with denominations as far as defining beliefs in doctrine goes. It rubs me the wrong way when other denominations are automatically demonized, though. There are saved people in all denominations, and we are all one in Christ.

The church of Slappy?

I'm liking this. Hey! Knock it off or we'll take you to the Church of Slappy. Sad that it fits. :toofunny

I actually do believe that the Holy Spirit had a hand in the Statement of Faith here. No, not like it's the bible or anything like that but still it is a good work and I know that doesn't happen apart from God.

I don't like the idea of "online" only kind of fellowships (in lieu of church and flesh and blood) because we need to see each other and to look each other in the eye as we walk with Jesus. It's too easy to pretend online and to commend ourselves in spirituality.

Okay, an example that comes to mind. This morning on my way to class (I get to campus early) I see there is a table being set up and it looks "Christian" in nature. They have pamphlets set out and other things so I walk over and ask, "What's this about?"

They were still in the set-up phase and I appear to be their first "customer". Now, I've been going to this school for more than 2 years and pretty much know they are 'visitors' when I approach so it comes as no surprise when they say, "We are visiting to survey students asking, "What brings significance to your life?"

I'm in my "data collection" mode and want to confirm my guess that they are involved in an evangelical outreach of one sort or another and respond with the question reflected back to the one who appears the leader, "Okay, what do you find significant?"

To which she replies in a casual manner, "For me, significance is found from Jesus Christ."

So I ask, "And how do you find significance from that which is invisible?"

She pauses to consider my question and one of the others comes to her rescue, "Well, I wasn't there when Jesus walked the earth..."

I interrupt presuming that he was about to speak about faith and say, "But Jesus is alive today, right?"

So he goes quiet for a moment but his answer gives the leader enough time to reply, "I'm not sure what you mean?"

So I signal (like they do in the Military when they are trying to say, 'I'm keeping my eye on you') by pointing two fingers to my eyes and then to hers, and say, "We are able to see that which is invisible here (indicating us looking at each other)."

A pause and a third member joins the conversation and affirms what I was saying, "He's quoting the bible, guys."

So I helped myself to one of the Jolly Ranchers that they had set out as a bribe (I think of it as a reward) and thank them. They continue their good work among my friends and have my prayers offered for the Lord to support their efforts to reach hearts.

So to try to tie it all up nicely in a bow; yes. It is good to fellowship with strangers and with others who are Christians. It is also good to present oneself to elders and to submit to authority while learning. Something about looking a person directly in the eye makes a difference.
