One way we get around this limitation is to group things together. Consider your growing grocery list. If you had thirty items to pick up could you possibly remember them all? No. But if they were grouped into various categories like a short list of the vegetables and another for the meat and another for the dairy and another for the canned foods, it could be done or at least it would be made easier.
Just as words are symbols of actions or things that allow us the tools to think about stuff - labels are groupings that serve to let us follow what others say but that's also the downfall. They (labels) are especially useful when one is starting to understand a subject - they serve a purpose of holding groups of many in one 'container' but the problem is when we associate the container with the item itself. Especially when we go beyond things like fruits and meats and canned foods.
People may be labeled and categorized into groups but this device, I assert, is of most use to those who actually do not know the person. Labels fall off with greater knowledge because they are no longer significant.
