If I were king of America...

I would limit marriage to members of 501-c3 organizations leaving civil union open to everyone.

I would require truthful labeling of food.

I would tax the oil exports to encourage domestic sales.

I would tax all heavily imports.

I would create a consumption tax for individuals.

I would toss the patriot act.

I would legalize marijuana.

I would end all wars America is involved in.

Ensure border nations were strong and prosperous.

I am sure I would do more... What would you do? You and your family all go to the dungeon if you give the power back to congress. That answer isn't allowed in this game.

I would do away with all publicly run schools.

I would declare the original Star Wars Trilogy as the National movie trilogy.

I would declare all current governors as Lords of their States and hold them personally accountable for anything that goes on within them.

BTW, what is a "heavily import?"

By being king I'd enjoy no political ads on tv and no calls to your house. I watch about 40 ads and get about 3 calls a night.

People like you are why the founders chose a democracy over a monarchy. You can't send me to the dungeon, you aren't the king, and thank God in heaven above we will not have one in the Church Age. Go Congress! Go President Romney! Hang the monarchy!

You don't know me so you shouldn't compare me. This would explains why you completely missed the irony in the OP. Let me make it more PC...
What changes do you see America needing to make to become a better nation. Please be specific like Gordon and Knotical. Wait, they don't know me either, but they saw the irony...

Also, the founders did not choose a democracy, but a democratic republic. Subtle, but significant difference. :silly

I think I'd make Christianity the official faith of the land. Maybe even make Calvinism our official doctrine, but of course, tolerate everybody. Encourage more people to go to vocational+tech schools over universities. Make universities teach from a Christian angle and reintroduce the concept of Truth to all public schools. Get rid of no-fault divorce laws, but start stronger enforcement of alimony, child support, and separate maintenance agreements.

Make marijuana legal (but heavily taxed). Ban Rx TV and print drug ads. Build big, comfortable asylums for "crazy" and stressed out people to stay until they really get better, like the Quakers did in the 19th century. Leave abortion legal, but encourage counseling, improve adoption systems, and try to reduce poverty and make jobs more "mom-friendly" so the pressure wasn't there to the same extent. Get rid of involuntary commitment, unless you committed a crime while crazy. No death penalty. Build a couple Christian communities and/or communes, just to show people what's possible.

Start a national campaign to encourage a re-evaluation of The American Dream. Sometimes, less stuff=more happiness. Encourage communities to develop stronger social bonds (the ties that bind sort of thing). Allows convicted felons to sometimes get their records expunged after x number of years. Reintroduce the idea of life with limits (and joy).

Not really. Semantics doesn't get you off the hook.

Wow! I don't know if this was thought out over time previous or off the top of your head, but you sound like you have conviction. I like what you have to say about many things, though some of what you say scare me, not because of what they are, but if one precedent is made, it's opposite is all that easier to be made. You have my vote to be king! I have a few questions for you:

Why would you make a national religion? Do you think it would be a unifier towards Christianity?

With the public teaching of Truth, would you also encourage other religious teaching, not for conversion, but understanding if confronted by Islam or Buddhism?

Thanks for adding to the topic!

I'm for thinks like encouraging a strong military, getting rid of the patriot act, etc. Also, I'd refuse any sort of monarchial position as I wish the country to remain a republic.
Beyond that I'm either undecided or unknowledgeable. So I wouldn't want to be in that position.

I'd make an official religion because, as king, I'd want to try to guide morality in a certain direction. Freedom of religion, though.

Absolute Truth is a dying concept that I think needs to be revived. Post-modernism has made us all so open minded and soft that we're easily persuaded and sent off to destruction. So, when confronted with non-Christian faiths, I'd try to get people to see that its kind of like math (C.S. Lewis made this point). 1+1=2. That'd be Christianity. 1+1=3 may be wrong, but its better than 1+1=8. See what I'm saying? Evaluate other "truths" in light of The Truth and see where they stand.
