Which version do you suppose He'd use?
Whatever bible was available to quote. If it was Chinese ,that is what he would use.spanish ,etc.

Jesus quoted in aramaic, not hebrew.hebrew was used in the temple then only.aramaic was used outside.

When he spoke/speaks it should be abundantly clear what he means..

Here's what i found that started this thread..

It would be foolish to say he would use no Bible, since he used one during his earthly ministry (Luke 4:16-20; 24:27, etc.).

Would he use a Bible that makes him a liar, as the NIV and ESV do in John 7:8?
John 7:8-10 (KJV) Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

(NIV) “You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.” After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee. However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.

(ESV) “You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.” After saying this, he remained in Galilee. But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

The mere question would be laughed off by modern scholarship as too absurd to consider.

But this question deserves serious consideration by any genuine follower of Christ. After all, the Bible is Jesus’ book, and so picking the one he would have us use is certainly something we should do!

Would Jesus use a Bible that gives Satan his own title in Isaiah 14:12?
Isaiah 14:12 (KJV) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Revelation 22:16 (KJV) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

The NIV gives Satan the title Jesus has plainly reserved for himself:

Isa 14:12 (NIV) How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

Are you okay with that? Do you think Jesus is okay with that? (See this article for more on Lucifer vs the Morning Star.)

The kjv you use isn't the 1611,the revision to that was in 1768.

The 1611 had the apocrypha.the 1768 doesnt.my church has Haitians, jamacians.they might use an English to their native tongue.

Biblica Hibraica Stuttengartsia...

Otherwise known as the BHS.

Because anything else is just heathen....just like Stephan...he used the Septuagint and got stoned for it.

i don't have the one with the apocrypha.. my mother gave my sister and i the King James.. her's was white with a zipper mine was black.. Later on after getting saved i prayed asking the Lord to help me pick out a new one.. in a bible bookstore my hand fell on a Thompson Chain Reference Bible.. and I've been using it ever since..

Then you have a 1768.there's only one 1611.it wasn't printed but hand copied.nit many were made.and there's been changes to the kjv in 1768.

Do you think Jesus would speak to a six year old about sex and child birth and quote and Adam knew his wife and Seth was born?

That's why church use story bibles .modern English and easy to read and teach from

Here's you a link in case Jesus comes to preach and He needs to remember what He wrote.

Because English can't actually contain the Hebrew Bible...

If He wants the New Testament....
That's a different link.

Jesus is the "word", He doesn't need a Bible to preach.

Actually when He returns He is coming on a White horse and a sword in his hand that will do all his preaching for him...

Gail Riplinger has a chapter in her best-selling New Age Bible Versions titled "King James for Kids". Mrs. Riplinger provides 23 pages of irrefutable evidence proving the King James Bible is far easier to understand and read. She lists over 350 examples in the New Testament where the King James Bible is much easier and simpler to understand.

In comparing the first chapter of the first and last books of the Old and New Testaments, the Flesch-Kincaid research company’s Grade Level Indicator shows "The KJV ranks easier in 23 out of 26 comparisons" (Riplinger, New Age Bible Versions, 1994, p. 195) betrays the strictly

Mrs. Riplinger writes:

"Why is the KJV easier to read? The KJV uses one or two syllable words while new versions substitute complex multi-syllable words and phrases." (Ibid, p. 196) She lists over 270 examples in the New Testament. Mrs. Riplinger also attributes the King James’s ease of understanding to "Simple sentence structure. . .." (Ibid, p. 204) She again lists many examples.
In her book, The Language of the King James Bible, Mrs Riplinger continues her research in the readability of the King James Bible. Mrs. Riplinger documents under the subtitle "Statistical Verification of Readability":

"Readability statistics generated from Grammatik and Word for Windows show why the KJV is 5th grade reading level, while the NKJV and NASB are 6th grade, and the NIV is 8th grade reading level! The KJV averages:

  • less syllables per word
  • less letters per word
  • less words per sentence
  • smaller percentage of long words
  • greater percentage of short words than the NKJV, NIV, NASB and NRSV

Where else can we use words like tehovm or Shalom...
There really don't have English equivalent.
So....

Even Besherith....
A "prepositional" verb requiring a material that the Heavens and earth was made from....but none is listed in the first sentence... Meaning there never was anything and no word either to be construed into something.

Can't do that in English.

If ElizabethIan English is so easy to read, why doth not the schools teach Shakespeare without the aide of a commentary, I have read old literature ftom that time.I can understand it.

Modern English isn't poetic.I don't know why but again you are forgotten thar comment that it's to hard and lengthy.your words not mine.

Nope,Genesis, Bah a greek word translitered meaning it was just borrowed and made English. It's meaning is simply origins. Not quite the same.
