This may be dumb or something but I just found out that the Buddha existed around 6th century BCE and now I'm doubting Christianity because I always thought Buddhism was completely faith based I didn't know the Buddha actually existed... also I hope I'm not upsetting anyone

So did Muhammad, founder of Islam, and both died in their old age.

But how does that affect your belief in Christianity?

It's great to question why we believe in something - but faith in Jesus Christ is not in vain - true Christianity is the only faith where we are not required to perform works in order to save ourselves - God did it all, through the person of Jesus Christ - a story told over 1500ish years and all verifiable for those with "ears to hear". What we cannot do, God did in our place, Jesus Paid it all, so those who follow him (obey His commandments) will not perish (in Hell) but have eternal LIFE - heaven. Buddha was of the eastern religions - god is within - which is totally at odds to God the Holy Spirit inhabiting a true believer's body by faith through grace.

Buddhism is, essentially, religious atheism. There is no God in Buddhism. Buddha was not God and he never claimed to be, nor did he teach that anyone should think he was. Anyway, why does the life of Siddhartha Gautama (aka Buddha) cause doubt about the Christian faith? I don't see the connection here...

What, exactly, is the basis for your faith as a Christian?
