I'm new.. I had a dream..

Hello all,

I have always believed in God but lately I have been reading scriptures daily and praying often, trying to find answers to my questions of Jesus.
Long story short... I had a terrible nightmare last night.
A demon came to me, dressed as a man. I could feel he was dead. I asked him and he confirmed he was dead. I asked him if he was of God and he gave me a sinister laugh, my whole body was consumed by fear.

I tried to stab him but.. He was dead! He tormented and harrassed me everywhere I went. I went to sleep and woke up (in dream) and he was still there. I held my girlfriends hand and we began to pray. I said "In Jesus' name.." the demon shreiked in fear.. windows began to shatter, I continued to pray as the demon became engulfed in fire, his flesh melting revealing his bones until there was nothing left of him. Words of a scripture appeared in fire before me, it was from God saying the demon has been banished and will never return. I felt the power of God.

I woke up and it was 3am. Chills all over me.. Sweating.. It was the worst nightmare.. What does this mean?? I have had many dreams of demons this year.

Thanks for reading.

Hi dear Brother disturbed, and welcome in Jesus' name. I'm certainly not an interpreter of dreams, and have never attributed much reality to them for me, other than wondering if it was the Mexican food I had before going to bed; some of that can have absolutely monstrous effects.
Have you experienced similar things in the past? Is there literature you've read suggesting demons, or movies you're watching affecting your thinking?
Last of all for the moment I will ask your thoughts on the security you have in Christ. What type of church do you attend, and is there things in your life that make you think you've crossed some line opening you up to outside attack? Do you believe you possess eternal life in our Savior?
Blessings in Christ Jesus. :wave2

Thanks for you're reply.
Now that I think of it it could have been the cookies I ate before bed :)

I don't attend a church but I read. I feel like all signs are pointing to God in my life. When I do read the Bible, some verses overwhelm me and tears fill my eyes.. I dont cry too often as Im a 30 year old man. Tehehe!
The house I grew up in was real spooky.. I was convinced it was haunted. Ive had many dreams of demons but this was the first time I felt I could call Jesus and in my dream he answered my prayer.

I have not been baptised that I know of, I have been looking into it. I dont want to get baptised and continue to sin..I will continue to read..

I'd take the dream in the way of direction. Keep God's words near you. Pray and keep Him close by. Know the bible and let it fill your understanding.

Some time ago, I has a dream that I had large moles on my skin and as I did things I counted as sinful more of them spread on me. In the dream I didn't mind for a while. Kind of like being dirty or naughty, or being a bad ass has it's appeal in their own ways. But then in the dream I was dipped in water like being babitized, and all the moles on me were gone. I was clean. And for a moment before waking up I felt pure. I've keep that dream in my thoughts since I've had it. And when I know I do something sinful, I try to bring it to God in prayer, because often enough, I'm powerless against my sins. While in them, I enjoyed them and held little resistance against them. And though I don't know the true meaning of the dream, or even if there was a meaning at all, for me it has been an inspiration to keep bringing my sins and wrongs to God. Because when I do, He gives me strength against them, and makes me purer, with less temptation felt from those sins. It was my inspiration to get over being emberresed to seek God in prayer, or emberresed to confront my sins to God.

Maybe this dream can be like that for you. Regardless of it's meaning, or if it has one, maybe it can be your inspiration to trust God, and go to Him in your troubles. Or maybe to seek Him more often, or even always, to keep the troubles from harassing you. I don't know, but these are just some thoughts.

Wise words sir! Thank you for you're thoughts!

I'm no interpreter, but it sounds like a good dream to me. The Lord could be teaching you that you should depend on His name.
I had a similar dream and that's how it was interpreted for me.

They have some good interpreters over here. But when you get the interp, don't accept it until you have considered how it fits with your circumstances and so forth, and pray for confirmation of the interp from the Lord.

Dreaming like this and waking at 3PM can be physical (e.g. liver or digestion), but this is also the so-called time of the devil's hour where some people claim paranormal activity increases. Other than the supposed legend that 3AM is opposite the time Christ died on the cross (as a mockery), I'm not sure why 3AM is significant (in the old telling of time, it would be the ninth hour of the night, exactly between midnight and sunrise). The other interesting time is the 'witching hour' at solar midnight. It could be paranormal, but my gut feeling is that from what you say you are still struggling with feeling accepted by God, issues of sin, and uncertainty of the future. The demon on one hand represents your fears and temptation, but on the other by invoking the name of Jesus seemed to destroy him -- and in that respect that can be part of yourself. By doing the same thing, and acting in faith, you can eventually overcome what you fear and live a better life. Let it be known though that if there is a negative entity, they seem to feed on fear and anger, and weird things increase. As soon as you feel you have a confident handle on everything, and trusting the Lord completely they lose interest and move on. Or to put it as the bible says, resist the devil and he will flee.

It means one of your faculties shut down.

Let's please find a common resolve and grounds to proceed in this thread.
Instead of getting rather hung-up on whether something was or wasn't there, please lets discuss ways in which we could help the OP even if no longer here, ways to cope or advice.
We never know, other members could be having similar dreams, and our responses could help them.

Yes, welcome to the forums, disturbed . Sorry I didn't say that earlier.

As for your dream, I'm not much on interpreting dreams, but I know what it's like to have a nightmare, that's for sure! Not fun, is it? Whether it's a spiritual message from God, I can't say. I know there are incidents of God communicating this way though. But even if it was just a dream, there's still a good lesson there for all of us that I think you understood too. That is that the name of Jesus, and His word when spoken in faith will drive away any demon and even Satan himself. And He will do this for us even in real life when it's NOT just a dream. I DO have experience with this!

Oh dear...
Allow me to reignite a compassionate discussion as we appear to have fallen into a ditch.
disturbed, the best advice I can give you is to stay strong in faith and keep Jesus in your mind. It does sounds merely of a dream which has no reality in it whatsoever, however having Jesus engraved in your mind, I feel, will make you feel at ease.
If you believe that the dream was interpreting evil spirits of even the 'deceiver' himself - cast them out in Jesus' name.
Prayer is the key. :pray

Does anyone want to expand or add to what I have said?

Asking questions of Jesus.
Well
I Peter 2:24. He bore our sins on the cross and we are healed by his stripes.

Our dependence on Jesus Christ is salvation. So a dream trying to get you to depend on a physical attack of evil would possibly fit (trying to stab evil). Also a temptation to believing evil is destroyed might be another dependence on the physical. We know that evil would have us believe it is destroyed, but th following scripture is what actually happens.
Luke 11:24
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

Evil will be consigned to hell at judgement. We depend on God for its destruction.
Fill your life with God
