When we first moved to Corpus Christi when I was turning 10, we lived in a poor neighborhood in Annaville. On Haven Dr. There are 2 houses about 1/2 way down the street and they are mirror images of each other. We lived rented one of them. My mother had apparently already offered me up to her future married priest boyfriend to be. He offered me a puppy. I had no idea I was already being groomed. The puppy was a Boxer/Great Dane mix. My half-sister and I were horseback riding down a street cutting through the neighborhood to get to a field. Nick (dog)and I bonded so he tagged along. He was grown into a powerful adult by this time. Two Dobermans attacked and Nick beat both of them in a furious fight. We continued on our way. Word of Nick's heroics swept through the neighborhood.
