It is literally impossible to copy and paste with firefox.It was a breeze with IE.What a pain.
 
I don't recall having an issue cutting a pasting with firefox, but all you really need is the keyboard shortcuts.

ctrl-c: copy
ctrl-x: cut
ctrl-v: paste

If you are trying to copy pics you need to be careful that it is either public domain, or you have permissions. If you use a pic and don't have permission you could get into a bit of trouble.

That being said, if you want to copy a pic there are two methods to do this. If you want to use a pic you see on another website it is possible to copy the web address for the pic and paste it where you want it, for this you would right click on the picture and select "copy url." Otherwise, if you want to save it to your computer just right click on the pic and select one of the save options.

I will keep that in mind.I will not post a pic until I ask the person if it is ok.What about a news article that I copy and paste.
?Should I call Fox news and ask them if it is ok for me to use their information?Thank you.

I am pretty sure they don't the free publicity. In fact, I am sure they write their article headlines in order for them to go viral.

if that is true you have an operating System issue. I still maintain several units running vista and 7 and a few 8s and none have any issue with CTRL+C and CTRL+V in firefox nor in Chrome.

I wish that what you say were true but it is not. The largest issue, concerning IE and Look Out Express is that nasty DOS hole that MS will not close and there will be no safety with either one until they do. The Tech, Mary Jo Foley asked them if they were going to close it when they were busy rewriting the Kernel, before vista fell on it's face and they panicked, and they told her never because then they could never get back in through the back door.

the kernel they were writing, from scratch, was part of the Long Horn project that was to be 7 when all was finished and would have resulted in all the trash that has accumulated since Win 3 and 3.1 and made the system faster. When Vista failed they tossed the work, married the XP system to vista and called it 7 because there had been rumblings of 7 ever since they began the early Alpha testing.

I have been told it is an IE issue.The firefox works fine and is fast.All of a sudden two days ago my IE became frozen and now after my computer has been worked on IE does work but it is extremely slow.It takes about 10 minutes to download anything.Before this all happened IE was fast.Go figure.

That sounds like a network issue. I wish you had a live DVD or CD of one of the Linux systems so you could test your Internet speed with it. I have not needed one of them since I moved to Linux but there are still sites that can give you your true speed. both, up and down. It will not diagnose the problem but it you google "internet speed check" and go to one of the sites you will see if you need to get your service provider on the issue.

And costs nada.

But why would firefox be fast and IE extremely slow?

Why?Because it is a hassle to copy and paste with firefox.It was easy with IE.Just go on the pic and click copy and go to where you want your pic and click on paste where you want it.It is not like that with firefox

Firefox and chrome has always been faster than IE but with DSL Cable Fiber Optic, they are so fast that one needs a stop watch to measure the real difference or an extremely video or graphic site to notice the difference except you customize FF to make it faster than it is out of the box.

And if you go to one of the sites I suggested and check your real speed against what you are paying for your service provider, AT&T, Warner or which ever will use the distance from the transmission point and have a reasonable idea of what is wrong. I believe my daughter is paying for about 18 and my true speed is 2 less than that because of my distance from the transmission point of my Fiber Optic service. Mine is a little low but that is distance, which with FIOS is much less lossy that wired connections of any kind.

If, say you were with AT&T and you were paying for 6 gig but were only running a little over two on your download speed and you live only 2 miles from the transmission point, there is a cable issue that needs repaired. with AT&T you small connector box, outside your house might have a fault also but you must never, never open the company side where the issue would be and honestly, even the at7t techs of today do not work that side, they just replace and send the old one to the shop.

But I had better shut up or some of you will figure out that I used to work fr Westrn Electric before the government tried to ruin the system.

Hey Kathi, I don't know everyone's background but with Lewis there are at least three of us here that build or have built custom computers. My last build from scratch cost the customer $500.00 for parts and zero labor for a $3200.00 unit. Most of the units I have built have cost less than $350 and some for less than 200 and in the store would run over 400 for the cjheap units.

The sad part is that with the technology today any monkey can follow the directions and youtube videos and build a custom computer in less than nine hours. the second one they build should take them less than three hours. It really is that simple but it is a learning experience. Just do not wear your plastic nails, they will get all scratched to death!:lol2
 
Well,just to let you guys know that unlike you I don't know a crock of beans about computers.I feel intimidated because one person will tell me one thing while another person tells me something else.I have taken advise too many times to go ahead and download something they say I should to have huge problems with my computer or have it crash because of that.So....I guess I will remain frustrated.The world has brought computers into our world.Everyone relies on them for most things.Such is life.

There is nothing we will ever be able to do that will force you to stop wasting your money on techs but the LORD did tell us that there is wisdom in the counsel of many. Any of the programs that have been listed in this string are very good free programs that, mostly, are written by Linux/Unix and BSD Geeks like us to help Windows users. For the longest time I was a Beta Tester for Windows, as long as they were moving forward. When they tossed the Long Horn project they lost me, completely.

In many programs one can download from the web, it is not the program you intend to download that crashes your 'puter, it is the worm or the trojan that some freek hacker attached to it. That is why we have advised you to use cnet.download and in some cases major geeks, they keep the software clean. I still run XP inside my Linux Ubuntu and thus, still use these programs. I know some of us still run Vista and 7 inside our Linux system inside Virtual Box.

These men and I are what some call White Hat Hackers. I don't know the history of the others but when MS was trying to put us all in prison, I was one of the early hackers they were looking for. We made hacking a very good thing and when the stupid idiots that write worms, trojans and virus' came on strong, few of us are willing to be called hackers because of them.

What many of us did in the early days was to disassemble MS programs like MS Office and take the bugs out for people and write it to a set of floppies for them. That is known as reverse engineering and MS hates for people to do that because it lets their sloppy secrets be exposed. In the early days there were thousands of us in every state and in every country around the world and they could never have shut us down but they tried.

In the case of Lewis and I, we differ on politics but we are solid geeks none the less and we have not one mean bone in either of our bodies. (Bet you never expected that out of the mouth that used to kill bad guys for a living.) If you do nothing more than to learn that you should never download anything into your windoze unit from anywhere but first cnet.downloads, second, majorgeeks and finally from sourceforge, please learn that. The source of 80 percent of all office system software for complete systems purchased by companies is sourceforge and is written by geeks like us, white hatters, and distributed free. All three of these sites are monitored 24/7 by software detection and humans to keep them clean because of the black hatters.

And if you download nothing else, please, use RegScrubVista, you will be amazed at the errors removed and the increase in speed. but first, please, please, please, test your download speed and tell us what you pay for, DSL, Cable or dial up and what your speed is.
