I agree with Truthfrees ! Even adults benefit from thought provoking and fact checking questions at the end of a good study. I feel that it is an educational way to learn because it's reviewing what you read - repetition is a good way to memorize!

I never liked being put on the spot due to abuse making me feel ashamed and I feared ridicule. If I were a teacher, I would use a teaching prop(like video) where the lights were slightly dimmed. Then I would ask questions not directed at anyone in particular so participation could be encouraged ,but not demanded. I saw a little girl at a school function utterly destroyed by a teacher demanding she participate in a program in front of a packed school cafeteria. As a parent, I had enough and yelled out "Leave her alone!" The teacher stopped then continued the emotional torture of the openly weeping child and I yelled out even louder "Leave her alone!" She finally let the child leave the stage.

good on you for embarrassing the teacher like that

One of the Mums at church passed on this story.
She work at a school which has reopened partially and talking to one of the your mum's collecting children, discovered she was a contemporary of several of our other young mums, newly married girls.
This girl mentioned several of these girls and then started talking about the youth leader.

She told several stories of incidents about him and was devastated web she learnt he had died.

Why this story. Simple this nonchristian mum had good memories of the care he youth leader had taken of her and the other young people.
Many of those who are still in the church paid tribute to his influence in there becoming Christian.

So while what you teach is important, why has a far longer legacy is your character, your care, your real Christian faith lived out before those children.

What do you teach, you teach from the know, use any publication so long sit teaches that the Bible is the word of God and is trustworthy and true.

If we, even as adults, never ask questions of something we do not understand then how would we ever learn. Q&A and Bible quiz's are a great for learning within our studies whether it's on a child's level or an adult level.

Who Me and Truthfrees brought up some good points.

I believe it's a good idea to ask questions at the end of a story, and even at the end of a lesson.

1. If kids know there'll be questions,,,they'll listen more attentively.
2. It helps them to remember the lesson.

Also, I used to give lessons a title....
that helps them to remember it too.

That wouldn't be the fault of the method of asking questions.
A good teacher would know how to tailor their questions according to where the student is at, how sensitive, how far along etc..

I think we should teach children the word of God when they are old enough to understand everything being said. I would say from 7 years old.

At 7 years old children do not understand everything being said.
They only understand concrete teachings and do not grasp concepts. This happens at about the age of 10, even 11.

As some on here have said....lessons must be age-based.
Asking questions is a great method which I've used. It makes kids think and not just parrot answers.

Telling stories is great for little children. They love the story of the lost lamb.
Stories must be interesting enough that they don't get bored...and yet they shouldn't go beyond what the child can handle or they lose interest.

I disagree Brother. The first 6 years of a childs life, their mind is like a sponge and there is many things that they can be taught before age 7. How to pray, how to take authority of the monster in the closet and expel them, how to praise God, how to appreciate the Lord's creation and the little things in life...!!

6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.../

These things do not start at age 7 or 10 or 11...They prolly really start at about 1 year, when they've learned to toddle around and look and listen. They can receive more than you think they can.
