Is Christianity a belief?

Don't get confused about the title. At times some comments by some of us make me think we are not being strong assertive enough about God and the bible.

I have had my own personal experiences about God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible and Christianity. I've been convinced a lot.

Then why shoud I/you say things like:

*I believe God made the heavens and the earth,
*I believe Christ is the Son of God,
*I believe the bible is the Inspired word of God,
*I believe Christ was raised from the dead???

Saying believe may seem you are not even sure what you are saying is right. Can't you be assertive??? Saying 'believe' isn't strong enough.

Why not be assertive (if you know the God you serve) and boldy say:

*God made the heavens and the earth
*Christ is the Son of God,
*The bible is the Inspired word of God,
*Christ was raised from the dead
etc

This may not make sense to you right now....being assertive is not being rude with Christianity. It's just emphasising the truth.

To say we believe allows us to distance ourselves a bit from what we are saying. We can say "oh its just what I believe" to fend off any questions about it. I heard a talk which was about how Christians have lost confidence in the gospel. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit - Found it

Yeah. Good illustration.

I may also add:

I like looking at the OP from this POV:

You are before your interviewers and have a project to defend. When you begin aswering your questions you must avoid expressions like: I think..., I believe..., It is like..., to Me..., maybe..., it looks like... etc if you are to really pass the interview.

So God, the Bible etc are like a project to me, and during the defence or interview I use only strong assertive expression: 'is', 'deffinitely', obviously' etc

Thanks for the link. Quite a big file.

A religion is based on a common set of beliefs that all agree to. Christianity has been reduced to a Sunday church religion among many other religions that suit men's fancy. And even then you can choose from a myriad of flavours of this watered down religion called churchianity. Now that's service!!!!

Even the demons believe and tremble at the name of Jesus.

Faith is what we trust in and know with all surety that what ever God said and done is truth. Application of Gods word by applying all His promises to our daily lives makes faith proven by Gods actions in our own lives as He works in us and through us as we let the light of Christ shine in us and through us.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

How can we believe if we have not faith first. I have faith as God has revealed himself to me by application and now I believe through faith that He is very real with all power and authority. The demons had faith to believe Jesus was who he said he was and this is why they tremble and run from Him.
