Is Christmas celebration scriptural?

No it is not scriptural. I am not bashing anyone or anything. I believe God tells us how and how not He is to be worshiped and don't know of scripture that supports it. I do think that the out pouring to give to others this time of year is wonderful and glorifies God. I question why it takes a time of the year to give. I think it is bad for people to lie to their children about the fat man in the red suit who will answer their prayers if they ask him. I think it is wrong to say it is about Jesus when 99% of what we see and hear is anything but.
Again I think it is a great opportunity for families to come together in praise and adoration of our savior if that is what it is about to you.

Maybe it's just me but what I struggle with is that the outpouring toward others is concentrated more on the commercial. Every year the Christmas season depresses me because of it. This year I did something a little different and I actually learned that what I did was very enjoyable. Not my goal but I got a real satisfaction out of knowing that I could do something to help someone in need.

One of our company business units or departments issued a challenge to us to get together and sponsor a Christmas meal for someone in need locally. I found out that this was done through a contact at the local Salvation Army. I gave it some thought and figured it couldn't cost too much to provide a meal for a family so I decided that I would take that challenge as an individual.

Yesterday, I bought the groceries and delivered them to the contact. I provided about a 5lb. picnic ham, 5lb. of potatoes, 1lb. raw carrots, 1/2lb. raw green beans, package of grape tomatoes, 10 count bag of mixed apples & oranges, package of premixed lettuce salad, package of shredded cheddar cheese, 10" cake, gallon of milk, and 9 count package of frozen dinner rolls. The cost was less than $45.00. I was told the family was two adults and two children. I suspect they could provide two to three meals off what I provided and then some.

Doing this helped me feel a little less depressed about the Christmas season. I might have to consider doing this more and maybe what I should have done to take it a step further was to throw a Bible into the bags. Hmm....

Thank you for making heaven glad.
Do you realize that there are times when you help someone and you indeed appear happier than the person you helped, and also you get relieved? have been there...

The reason for depression is linked to the spirit of the season and i can guarantee you its not the spirit of Christ.. Feed these words into a search engine in any order and see what pops up...

Baal Tammuz and Christmas..

After viewing some of the links (not in details)...I think we've lost something
The world seems to have taken over completely

Celebrating the birth of Christ is certainly not against scripture. If some other people want to use the holiday as an excuse for other things, that's not my fault nor my responsibility.

If by "is it Scriptural" you mean "is it supported in the Bible," then no, it isn't Scriptural. But it certainly doesn't go against Scripture. I have to agree with Obadiah that there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating the birth of Christ.

What about this passage? What does it have to do with this discussion?
It shows the pagan garbage that surrounds this holiday
The xmas tree was around six hundred years before Jesus was born as a child.
I personally do not care if you sacrifice chickens or what else you might choose

That passage has to do with making idols. That has nothing to do with having a tree at Christmas.

Really? That tree worship went on a long time before Christ.
You ask me into this dance I just posted a scripture if you did not notice the significance you would not have asked what it had to do with the thread you knew you just wanted to joust if not you would have let it go
I read the scripture as you did. do with it as you wish. As I said before you can sacrifice chickens or what ever else you choose that is up to you.

What has santa, a decorated tree, and giving each other gifts on a specific non biblical day of the year have anything to do with scripture.

There are holy days and feasts in scripture, but I dont see where God or the Apostles made a new holy day and feast called christmas.

Apart from acknowledging the birth of the messiah that every christian should already know, thats it. Praise and thanks 365 days a year.

Simply posting a verse or passage of Scripture is almost meaningless if no explanation of the passage and how it is relevant is given. I wanted to address what I thought you were saying with it but there is no point in proceeding based on an assumption of what I think you are thinking the verse means. It needs to be dealt with no because I want to joust but because error regarding Scripture needs to be corrected.

Again, the passage in Jeremiah has to do with cutting down a tree to make it into an idol that is to be worshiped. This has nothing to do with Christians having a tree to celebrate the birth of Christ.

This has absolutely nothing to do with worshiping a tree and the comment on sacrificing chickens is fallacious and unnecessary.

Santa is based on the true story of St. Nicholas who gave away all his wealth, among other things. A decorated tree is just a decorated tree. Giving gifts is based on the three wise men bringing gifts to Jesus and also Jesus' ultimate gift to us in his sacrifice.

That Christmas is not specifically mentioned in Scripture is irrelevant as to whether or not we should be celebrating the birth of Christ or celebrating it in this way.

The true story of st nicolous. So he is related to a fat man in a red suit with a big beard white as snow who lived at the north pole and mode of transportation was flying reindeers and gives free gifts. Cool based on a true story
