Is Divorce a Sin?

Say it is a husband who is being abused and the children are in danger as well. If he does not get a civil decree that is binding forever his wife can run up debt that he can also be libel for. She will also have the same custody rights as he does. So if she goes to the school she can take the children and run away with them. There is nothing the law can do to help him get them back. If he wants them back he will have to find them and then kidnap them back.
This happens a lot and the little children are told stories about the other parent, even that the other parent is dead or that they don't want them anymore. Sometimes these children are taken when they are so small that they don't even remember the other parent at all. Now the children are living with the abusive spouse.

If my children are being beating by her. I would get her out.

I would put her away but not divorce her she's still my wife but I left her.

I would live like a virgin till god provided a way to divorce her if it be his will

brethren remember this who ever is called by the lord god is not of this world. And is our portion in this world? let me ask you all this do you all think the books in the bible are not in power today? i tell you nay. How it was in the days of old so it shall be now just alil differences in the laws.

Remember the scriptures Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the lord shall deliver him out of them all

whether we get married or not the time is short as it is written by the apostles and what was the lords first and most important commandment?

Is it not to love thy lord with all thy heart mind and soul?
but what did jesus say to peter when jesus asked peter do you love me?
after peter replied did not jesus say if you love me feed my sheep?

who are the sheep of the lord? Did not the lord say in the book of ezekiel that his flock are men?

Some of us will marry and some of us wont for we all got different spiritual gifts from god.
some men can not control them selves so the lord says if you cant control your self marry
but if you have power over your own spirit and say in your heart you want to hold fast to your purity than remain a virgin.
The time is short brethren

In a moment we are here then in a moment we went all the way of the earth and we lie with are fathers in the grave
Do not be like the children of desolate who set their hearts to have the best life in their time on earth
for that is their portion they wont live again, there hope is in the grave tho many of them marry and get rich and have a good life,
what is their end?

In the end of the day when we all sit before the judgment seat of god they who were written in the book of life, they who did god commandments, did not turn his face from shame for the lords sake and did that what the lord delight in will live for ever!

Do you understand what that means? No more tears, no more pain, no more paying for food, no more planting a vineyard and another eat, no more building a house and another live in it, no more sickness, the young lions wont starve for hunger no more, the vultures wont prey on the dead no more, the sheep and the cow wont cry for the captivity by their shepards. The sorrow of the whole world will be at rest.

but where will the wicked be? where will the rich be(they who were rich but not rich towards god?), where will the hypocrites and all the ungodly me n of the earth from every generation?

They will be in torment forever and ever....

So let them have joy in this world let us do thy lord commandments and hope to suffer for righteousness sake as our fathers did before us.

marriage is things of this world. dont let it consume you all remember what the real goal is. To be accounted worthy to live in the world to come

The short answer is no.

An interesting discussion on this topic errupted on facebook recently. Some people seem to think divorce itself is a sin. I contend that it is not. It is the result of sin. No one just decides to get a divorce without some underlying sin being the impetus. Whether it be infidelity (adultery), pride, or a number of other things, it all comes down to the fact that divorce is the result, not the cause.

Divorce certainly can be a sin. Or at least the various actions involved in divorce-- removing the spouse from the home or leaving the spouse, giving a certificate of divorce that is unjustified, etc.

In Malachi, men were treacherously putting away their wives. Jeremiah mentions the idea of wives treacherously departing from their husbands. Wouldn't that also be sinful.

If Jesus said that if a man puts away his wife, except it be for fornication, and marries another, he commits adultery, wouldn't it be a sin for a man to do these things?

The Lord through Paul said for a man not to put away his wife. Wouldn't it be a sin to disobey this?

might I suggest you adjust your settings? so that friend of mine wouldn't be able to post like that?

and well deuteromony 24 cant command a sin. it was rather that man did want to be able to exit their marriage. while I don't think god wanted that to be easy, he did say it was because of sin ye shall have it.

Deuteronomy did not command anyone to get a divorce. If a Jewish man never divorces his wife, that doesn't mean he is in violation of Deuteronomy 24.

In the translations I read, it sounds like the command is IF a man puts away his wife and gives her a writing of divorce and she marries another man and he dies or divorces her, the first husband is not to marry her again. The first husband not taking her back would seem to be the command.

And when it comes to divorce, Jesus said that Moses allowed it because of the hardness of their hearts. After Jesus revealed what He did, we should not divorce or remarry contrary to his teachings.

again Christians don't sin? what if your spouse likes to drink. and wants to have sex? you oblidge. she is drunk. a crime has been commited.

That's an idiotic law if they are talking about a married couple. What jurisdiction are you in? It would depend on where you are at as to whether that would be illegal. Maybe it is in Canada.

I'm glad my wife doesn't drink.

Let's say the woman had a lot to drink, and she was rather aggressive about it toward her husband. I suppose he could claim he wasn't the one doin' the rapining.
