Bible Study Is it a sin to recieve a blood transfusion

According to Acts 15:20
Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.
would it be a sin to recieve blood a blood transfusion?

I don't think it is a sin. It is one thing to eat polluted foods and whole other thing getting blood. For one thing, the blood is still "alive" when it is put into another body.

I agree with ChristineES. To me, it is not a sin to have a blood tranfusion.

Think about it. God has given men, doctors, the ingenuity and the knowledge about human blood. Look how much we know about it. And so, when needed it preserves one's life.

The reason I ask is because the JW use this verse to say it is a sin and I have never heard that before.
