Is it possible that the devil answers our prayers instead of God?

Since the devil can also hear our prayers?

Can he?
The devil is limited, he is not everywhere as he is limited to being in one place at a time.
Only God is everywhere.

The devil can influence physical things or people but he cannot affect your peace of cause people to be Christian.

You also have to consider the devil's aim. He does not want your faith to grow, he wants you to backslide, to loose all interest in God.
Is he going to achieve that by making your life harder or easier?

Since the devil can also hear our prayers?

The Truth,

What is the truth about your OP question?

I have not found any Scripture that states angels are omniscient (all-knowing). If that applies to angels, it also apples to the fallen angel, Satan.

Remember the interchange between God and Satan:
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord (Job 1:8-12 NIV).
Here, Satan seems to get the wrong idea about Job's motivation of being a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord God.

I would think that when we pray aloud Satan and his demons could be present. Or even when we openly discuss with each other the desires of our hearts. The Jim Jones suicide/massacre comes to mind. How many thought he was the answer to prayers.

See my reply no 2.

The devil is a creature of evil doing good is hard added to that do you think he finds it easy or pleasant to be near Christians who are talking to God.

We cannot oppose the devil in our strength, but if we are keepingclose oJesus he will enable us to oppose I'm.

Don't concentrate on the devil concentrate on Jesus.

good point

if you want to receive what you need/want only from God and no other source you could simply make your prayer to God and state that you want to receive only from the hand of God and no one else

at some point in church history people made the public statement to renounce the devil and all his ways and all his goods - probably for the same reason motivating you - that you don't want anything that comes from the devil

after i heard that i started making sure i stated in all my prayers that i only want God to answer my prayer because God is my only source

i don't do that anymore because God and i have an understanding that i only want what comes from His hand - but when i wasn't sure how it all worked i made a specific point of making my intentions clear

God bless you for your intentions and sincerity - God loves that

I disagree with the idea that Satan can only be in one place at a time. Evil is everywhere. I have a huge cross on my door but he still comes in to scare me. I worry a lot because of the evil things that he has done to me so even though my faith is strong I do not always feel the peace of God. It was not always this bad. Before I became a Christian he left me alone for long stretches. My Christian walk as been similar to that of Christ. Right now I am in the desert standing up to Satan, but it has lasted more than 40 days. I do a lot to help people so he is especially interested in discouraging me. He promises to take away my stress headaches if I give up all my charity work. I am not making this stuff up. It is real. I have a lot of people praying for me. God sends me help. When I watched the movie, "War Room," I learned that I have to stand up to Satan and cast him out of my house. I do this daily. He seems determined to try to break me. I will, with the help of God, prevail. My discouragement will be short lived and each day I will begin with the promise of a brand new day with the Lord. I wrote this poem about this.

Brighter Tomorrow

Life may take a downward spiral
And overwhelm us for awhile.
Pain may seem a way of life;
Endless moments filled with strife.
Gloom may settle in our soul,
Splitting that which once was whole.
And yet despite this painful rift,
There still exists a timeless gift.
The saving grace when all is gray,
God's promise of a brand new day.

i always get a strong spirit filled vibe from your posts. You are surely pleasing to God. It helps me a lot. Thanks Truthfrees.

you know...now that you say that...it is definitely possible.
but just adding that to my shopping list of things to worry about....is burdensome. ?
actually i think the devil in me tempts me all the time. online especially..to be a wiseacre smart alec. i do have some natural wit but tend to overplay it. God probably thinks i am a narcissist. i dont know

God does not think you are a narcissist. Get that out of your mind. He is very intelligent and knows what a narcissist is. People over use this term and do not understand it. It is not just someone who is self-centered from time to time. Narcissists can be cruel. They are known for their lack of COMPASSION, which you have a lot of.

According to Scott Peck's, People of the Lie, evil is malignant narcissism. This means when a narcissist tried to actually harm someone and lie about it they are EVIL. Ask yourself if you recognize these traits in our president.

I really like you and will hear no more self-deprecation from you. Look into the face of God for your true reflection.

sorry susannah. it has become habitual. maybe the reason i havent reached my potential
oops sorry ..thread hijack

I am also a creature of habit. Some of my habits turned into addictions. In Recovery I wrote a book called The Art of Changing. I use it for my own personal guideline. There is a whole chapter on self-esteem. But I still struggle. I just talk over the negative voices and I use affirmations. I ask myself a lot with God thinks of me. I get answers like you're not supposed to be perfect Susan.
I love you in spite of your shortcomings.

wow - thanks so much - i've made a lot of mistakes and ONLY GOD got me out of every mess i made

i now go straight to Him FIRST and ask Him what He wants me to do - rather than doing what i think is best and making yet another mess

iow i always end up on God's doorstep every time i do my own thing so might as well go talk to God first and miss the mess altogether

plus the more questions i ask God the more i learn - no teacher like God - truth comes only from God - there is no other reliable source

the only issue with learning from God is it takes longer because you have to sit quietly - read the bible quietly - talk to God quietly - and wait expecting Him to answer

when i first started talking to God i would have to wait quietly for 4 hours before i got still enough to hear God - "be still and know that I am God" - Psalm 46:10 - Isaiah 40:31

to this day if i am upset in anyway i can't hear God - i need to do something to calm down and focus on how awesome God is in order to hear Him

God bless you - supporting you in prayer - your love for God is clear

I don't believe the devil can hear our prayers. He is a created being. Scripture would suggest that he cannot do anything that God does not allow him to do. As in the case of Job, and when Jesus said to Peter that Satan had asked permission to sift him after the crucifixion. And in both those cases (and I believe in all cases, permission granted is for the purposes of God's sovereign purpose. Which we can't see.

Another good prayer that I include daily for the daily needs of my family and myself, is the one that Jesus gave us. "Keep us from the evil one."

Thanks for your reply and like what Susannah said to you, God does not see you as a narcissist. God always sees you in a positive light and He certainly has many good things to say about you.

Consider the verse in Psalm 139:17 where King David said, 'How precious are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!'

Satan is not omniscient nor does he know everything nor can he read our minds. He can predict human behavior because he has seen it operate. Only God hears and answers our prayers and knows our thoughts, Psalms 139:2. Satan might be able to hear our prayers when spoken out loud, but yet devises evil against us.
