Is nuerofeedback bad?

Hi,
I was raised in the church(long-story short)rebelled in my early teens, lived in sin for quite awhile, and then rededicated my life to Christ in my mid twenties.I pray, read the word, meditate on the word, and attend church, although I moved to suffolk Virginia last November and have not found a church yet except sometimes I go to mass with my fiancé who is a catholic.I have been thinking of starting counseling for some time, but especially now I realize I need to.So I am researching Christian counseling.I do not want to go to. Regular counselor, for they do not deal with spiritual sickness which in my opinion is more important than any psychiatric methods. One site said they have nuerofeedback as a service,it is just one part apparently, and one wouldn't have to do it I'm assuming.I have reservations about it,it isn't about whether it actually works or whether it is simply placebo. My concern and my question(sorry it took so long to get to it,I thought some background would be helpful)is whether nuerofeedback opens one up to demonic influence, that is my worry. And if it does would going to a Christian counseling service that offers that be a bad idea?Thank y in advance and please only comment if you have knowledge and/or biblical knowledge or a word of knowledge, please don't simply google it and then bombard me with that.Thank y so much and if you also know of a really good biblical based counseling service where they pray with you and other things in the suffolk/hampton roads area in Virginia please let me know.May God bless you abundantly.

I had to look this up to see if it was similar to the "biofeedback" therapy I had a long time ago to help me deal with general muscle tension brought on by a long term stressful situation I was in at the time. From what I read about it in Wikipedia it seems like it's a very advanced version of the same type of thing. I can't see any reason to worry that it would open you up to any influence from demons. Of course, Satan and his demons can use anything to get to us if we allow it, but it doesn't sound like that's the case with you.

Ok,thanks for your help.

Nerves are a type and shadow of angels.

Nerves take messages from the brain to body parts, and from body parts back to the brain.

Angels take messages from God in heaven to people, and from men to God (types and shadows are not the total reality - prayers etc, are all part of a greater picture). The Holy Spirit is speaking too.

In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve got their knowledge directly from God. Satan wanted them to use sight and taste (nerve born messages) to make decisions. Satan also wanted them to use their natural mind to make decisions. If it feels good do it; is not always correct. We have train our senses to discern the will of God.

Use restraint in which messengers you listen to. Some messengers will pose as messengers of light, when they are messengers of darkness.

May Holy Spirit help you in all this.

It's basically bio-feedback of your brainwaves, that is, the electrical frequencies of your brain cells. Nothing scary about it. I bet the greatest risk is falling asleep during the session. :lol

We don't live by rules of do's and don't's. Scripture answers your question and if you live by the Word, then things go well.

The Word speaks many times about something called Conscience. I can't be your conscience, and nobody else can be. The Holy Spirit leads us through our conscience and why we should make sure our conscience stays clear of all things. Something on your conscience will simply bug you, until you get it fixed. Even leaving the dishes dirty in the sink the next day, though it bug you as you lay down to sleep is a very bad thing. We should develop habits to always just take the extra effort and keep our conscience clear.

Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
(1Co 8:7-9)

Having conscience of something like an Idol in this case (Something weighing on your heart and mind) yet going through and ignoring that and eating the food anyway that was sacrificed to the idol can make us feel condemned and have that thing we allowed stuck on our conscience.

It's not based on weather the food is OK to eat or not, it is based on the persons own conscience. One group a faith group said that Idols are nothing but fake gods, so nothing is wrong with the food. The Other group who had lived all their life hearing about the power of the idol, yet are now saved are still thinking there might be something to that Idol and since they now serve Jesus, should have nothing to do with food sacrificed to that Idol as it still holds power in the conscience.

Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Doubting if something is good yet going through and doing it anyway is called sin. This answers all the numerous questions from believers if something is OK or not.

Is horror movies OK?
Is Christian Heavy Metal OK?
Getting my ears pierced OK?

If you even have to ask is called doubting, and any thing we would have to ask if it was OK or not, means it's not faith, and no, It's not OK.

Protect your heart, and guard it. Avoid things with questioning if it's good or not, Avoid things we make excuses to allow in.

Ignoring your conscience, and continuing to do so will shut off your ability to hear God. You get to a place where you don't know if it's God, you or the devil talking and it's a bad place to be.

Blessings

Christian counseling needs to be based on the word of God and counsel given by the Holy Spirit using Gods servant (man/woman) to speak through. Just as some Pastors become Pastors just because they want to, but were never called of God to do so, the same with those who call themselves Christian counselors. Before going to any counselor pray and ask God if this is the right one who will help meet your Spiritual needs. If what they speak does not line up with the word of God then they truly have not Gods Spirit in them.

I don't know the poster who wrote the above. I don't recall reading anything of his/hers elsewhere. I do not know the poster.

But, I will say that in our ministry, my wife and I "relate" to what he/she has said. There is much Godly wisdom there.

"Christian counseling" today is largely an oxymoron. Credentialed businesspeople enter the commercial marketplace with a Caesarian-earned sheepskin and an agenda. These profiteers are attempting to accomplish what the separate born again believer's community should have been doing all along.

"Neurofeedback" is akin to NLP ("neurolinguistic programming," a form of mind control). The question is: to whom is the activity consecrated? Where, if any place, does Jesus Christ feature in that activity? Hint: have a look at the vendor's publicity pieces/literature, founding member(s), "operational philosophy," framed wall diplomas, etc. You may be quite shocked...

Most of all, growing in God's love will cure a lot of things.

"with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love," (Ephesians 4:2)

It sounds like you are talking about some forms of biofeedback. These are largely ways of helping you gain conscious control over your anxieties, so that you can voluntarily relax yourself. Such relaxation techniques are widely used in psychotherapy and also in other forms of counseling, such as dealing with stage fright. So I don't see any demons here. It is true psychotherapy may open you more to exploring your subconscious mind. As such, you may experience desires, wishes, thoughts, etc., which seem atypical for you or against your morel codes. It is tempting, then, to demonize these impulses in order to deny they are coming from you. However, you won't get better until you own them. Many are unaware or overlook the fact there was a strong Christian mystical tradition that stressed meditative practices. You might want to read sometime St. Teresa of Avila "The Interior Castles<" to better understand how an introspective journey into deeper layers of your experience can led to greater unity with God.

You open doors for spirits, they don't open themselves.

At least in my experience and I have no scripture to back it up.

But in my experience doors are only open if you open them and let impurity and sin into your life. Or if you willingly participate in demonic rituals and or make contracts with spirits. Also drugs including alcohol will open the doors wide.

In general dont open yourself up emotionally, dont let ANYONE lay hands on you and dont take drugs that could your judgement. We should be sober and live by faith.

If you open one door:
Revelation 3:20 KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Then you can discern about other doors:
I Corinthians 12:10 KJV
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

The discerning of spirits becomes part of the abilities granted by opening the one door.

John 16:8 KJV
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

The Holy Spirit can direct (from inside us).

John 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

As well as Jesus giving direction.

Romans 1:19-20 KJV
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

So scripture sends us to:
The word
The word made flesh / Jesus
The Holy Spirit inside us
Creation of God

If hands are laid:
Discern who is laying on the hands and for what purpose.

The Gentiles had a demonic heritage, and really you have to look for teaching. The Jews had some issues with spirits, but God was active in helping them find out their errors.

You have opened a very complex area. An area that requires knowing Gentile and Jewish background (beyond some of my knowledge).
