Is the end times near?

I don't know. Certainly all or most of the signs are there, which is historically unprecedented and raises my anticipation level. So I proceed as if we are in the final days of Revelation scripture. Plus, any of us can go at any time any way, so for any one of us it might very well be irrespective of what happens to everyone else.

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Matthew 24:36 NKJV

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:44 NKJV

Every age has thought that they are the generation.
We are the only one with the technology in order to complete all the prophesy.
Combine that with the rebirth of Israel and the murmurings of a One world government and the ability to clone and mingle flesh... It is just as in the days of Noah.... IMO

I hope so. My big thing is look at how much inequality has grown, and not just in the US. Even in Western Europe, where they still have extensive social programs and such, they're talking about the rise of the Billionaire class. OxFam had a publication about it...I think its entitled "Can Europe afford its Billionaires?" or...something like that, anway.

The environment is in a mess. Poverty is a huge issue, even in affluent, developed nations that could, potentially, afford to make life more...well...live-able, for most people. In the US, we've been engaging in seemingly non-stop warfare since 9/11, plus things have been getting more oppressive at home, too. If you look at the US now and late stage Rome, its...kinda scary...you see a lot of similarities (inequality, war, ruthless elites, crushing poverty for many, downward mobility, etc.). I assumed things were a-OK elsewhere, but....it looks like inequality and the things that go with it (poverty, crime, incarceration, class warfare) are a probem globally, its just...at an advanced stage in the US, that's all.

So...I don't know. I do hope so, honestly. Did you know that average lifespan went -down- in the US, largely because of the out of control drug use+ODs? True story. That's the other thing...immorality of all sorts, at all strata of society, and its in much of the established church, too.

It's not so much we discern the signs of the time as no one knows that day or hour, but that we are prepared as His Bride and continue in the good works of the Lord as we witness and testify of His mercy and grace. Matthew 25:31-46

for_his_glory is correct, of course. As Christians, my understanding is that we are called to let our light shine and bring glory to Christ thru our lives, with the understanding that we simply do not know when Christ will return.

its just...whoa. I look at the way the world is going, how rough things are getting for so many people, and I'm thinking...please, please, please let it be sometime soon.

It will be a great and terrible day. God will not enjoy the destruction but He is just.

We are told to look for the signs and it would appear to be like the days of Noah. Many have thought in the past the end is near. I feel it is near but we do not know. The world is very troubled and there is much suffering.

We have to live each day as if it were our last , but also plan for the future, because we cannot say it is definitely near.

The human race has enough weapons to destroy the earth but it belongs to God and He will be the one to destroy at the right time
We must be prepared in our heart's whether or not because our own individual end is not known either.

Age doesn't count either.

The Holy Spirit will help to fill out heart's with love for God and our neighbour, all we have to do is accept it.

I did a sermon on the end times one New Year’s Eve, and I made the point that the end will come when Jesus returns, and He can’t return until He leaves. We are in the end times right now, because Jesus can return at any moment. I found a website that listed 242 dates for the end of the world, the first one was dated at 44 AD.
