Is The Law of God Still in Force Today ?/Matthew 5:17,18

Jethro said -

The first covenant method and timetable of temple, priesthood, and sacrifice, and it's corresponding punishments, was added until Christ,

No sir!!!

The law was added...

The whole law of Moses was added...UNTIL the Seed should come.

Now, what does until mean to you.

What does obsolete mean?

What does taken out of the way mean?

What does nailed to the cross mean?

For you are NOT under the law but under Grace.

What does not under the law mean to you brother.

To me, it means we are not under the law.

If not under the law means to you, we are in fact under the law, then please explain why you think this, with scripture.

Lol, no. Rabbinical tradition is probably as old as the law itself. And as Jesus said it made it all the harder for people to enter the kingdom of God, not easier.

When the first covenant got laid aside all the power got stripped from these add-on laws which were based on that which got laid aside, and stripped the power of the authorities that enforced them. For example, when it became fully known that circumcision is completely and totally satisfied in the circumcision of the sin nature alone any and all Rabbinical requirements added to the Mosaic requirement became all the more meaningless, even abolished.
Ok. I'm looking at Vine's and Thayer's Greek Lexicon for my definition of dogma and other verses where that word is used. Vine's says it's a decree, a opinion given with authority. These are two verses listed by Vine's besides them listing Eph 2:15 and Col 2:14.
Act 16:4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees [dogma] for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
? So were the apostles delivering the traditions of men? Or were they laws, commandments that the Lord had taught them to give to His people? If not then we are not obligated to keep them.
Act 17:7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees [dogma] of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
? Were these decrees of Caesar laws or were they traditions?

Laws of commandments (in ordinances [decrees]). The Law of Moses, first was a covenant law made with the people at Mt Sinai, that contained many individual decrees. They were not all given at the same time either.

Think of the Law of Moses like the Law of Gravity and the law of Christ like the law of Aerodynamics.

Aerodynamics trumps Gravity. Break the law of aerodynamics and you get the law of gravity tout de suite.
That's a great definition of falling from grace.

And on that positive note, this thread is now finished.

After all this time there are certain members who are never going to agree on this subject, and the same arguments, insults, and rude comments are just continually going back and forth despite warnings and infractions being issued. If some of you want to continue this, please take it to a PM. There is no need for the general public to see the kind of bickering and lack of Christian love that has been demonstrated in this thread.

This thread is closed. Do not start another similar thread in it's place. Take your fight to PMs.
