Is there anything to regret in Christ?

Is there anything to regret in Christ? This is just a question. I need obvious answers. Is there anything to regret in Christ or is there anything being a Christian prevents you from doing/achieving?

My conclusion is:
Whoever says: "Yes, there is something to regret" is really battling with sin. My thought:)

What do you people have to say about both my question and conclusion? Thanks

Well, that is a possibility, but it could be also from someone who doesn't know if eating a twinkie is a sin since your body is the Lord's temple. If eating a twinkie isn't healthy, then I m damaging God's temple. That is just a very simple example of how someone could be battling something that may be just fine, but confused of if it is a sin or not.

One is that I cannot pursue my personal selfish desires. I can't have much of those material things that i want , i cannot go and throw my sell to party with the unbelievers, i can't give the cute guy a chance because he doesn't love the Lord. Obvious answers, as i check my heart those things doesn't make me regret anything because being a Christian is the most right decision that I have ever done in my life. I never ever ever regret every single tear i shed , every persecution i experienced for Him.

If you are having regret then you probably need to grow in your journey. that said we all have to grow and we all have some form of a "wait a minute" moment along the way.

I regret the lack of certainty which allows us all to believe different things and to interpret the same words in different ways.

Lack of certainty? Same Spirit? Doctrinal differences or inequimorlalaurapothesis.

Primarily, I mean that there are 200 major Christian denominations and thousands(?) of small Christian sects. Most members of each of those denominations and sects will have their own slight variation of belief - simply because there is so much room in scripture to choose to ignore some bits or embrace them. The end result is that we all believe different things and end up arguing over them! Just look how adamant some people on this forum are that they are right in their interpretation whilst telling others that they are wrong. That is my regret.

Go on then Classik, tell me what inequimorlalaurapothesis means. I get the 'inequi' and the 'apothesis' but the middle bit which looks something like 'morals' eludes me.

Hi Aardverk,

Similarly, I think it's regretful when we disagree and we tell each other we are wrong, that we can't disagree with understanding and compassion. Jesus refuted many, but we know he cared for each and everyone. Yes, He did do all things well.

So true Davies. I try hard but I fail sometimes, especially if I have received an insult. My problem is that I like to make people think and question their own fixed ideas. That is, inevitably, provocative. It doesn't work all the time but sometimes it is educational for both parties and hopefully to spectators too. I have learnt a lot since joining this forum but I hope I have made others think a little too.

I have often asked myself if I should just keep quiet but what is the point of this forum if not to discuss matters? We all have something to offer.

Nah, I'm good. All that stuff I was raised not to delight in anyways. I guess if I think real hard, sure? But right now I am trying to formulate a plan to kill this groundhog sitting in my front yard and then cook it.

Yeah - you have made some impact here, positive impact. At the same time I will be glad to tell you that some of your ideas seem so alien, wierd and convoluted, sophisticated, tankalustic and frownopolic :toofunny

Maybe it hasn't come to your notice that you made some :)
some:lol
some :sad
some :dunno
some:shrug
some :confused
some :bigfrown
some :shocked

And some others you gave a heartattack:lol (Just kidding).

People like you keep this place busy, especially your idea of man-wed-spider:chin and your atmoshpere of humor.

I must be honest, I have had my difficult times as a Christian. I used to believe there is something beautiful about sin which unbelievers enjoy. (youthful exuverance - and of course we know where I'm going).

Worldliness is like a beautiful and attractive apple. Split it open and you see maggots inside. (And not that following Christ wouldn't give you headache. But that kind of headache is good for us. The Holy Spirit, God and Christ are the antidote and medicine - the bible, too - of course God's word.)

Indeed, following Christ saves you from alot of headache and regrets.
