I've seen a static version of the second one, never seen a live demo like that. This kind of stuff fascinates me, magic also.

Two years ago, I heard co-workers talk about a magician that was on TV. One said about the magician, "he is a god to me".

These are simply illusions by our own mind and how the camera is set up to view things.

Yes, good comment. In fact, I am very careful to separate entertainment magic, like Penn and Teller, from actual demon-driven hijinks. And I really get perturbed when someone refers to anyone but God as god.

In the movie industry, it's called "forced perspective." If you can find a director's cut of the first Lord of the Rings movie (The Fellowship of the Ring), the extended CD has some information on how it can be used in cinematography.

Exactly. Peter Jackson made the advance of allowing a moving camera in forced perspective.
