Jail For Medical Care

Of course it is a crime. That is why he is in jail.
That is what he wanted because the state must take care of it's prisoners so not to face an abuse charge later.
I could google it but I bet you money that Florida also wants insurance information at time of check-in.
You might squeeze by the first time, but not on the 2nd visit for any ailment.
His conditions were not immediately life threatening.
But you or I might think so if waking up morning after morning and in pain and not able to afford a good doctor visit.
The whole point to this story is that anyone who can afford to go to the emergency room and pay the bill when it arrives in the mailbox does not understand why this man did what he did.
My guess is that Jesus understands.

i doestn make it right, so i am mad at my boss does that justify me hurting him for firing me beacause he did me wrong? nope.

i have done with my chiropractors it called being up front. i know doctors that do care and will work with you. i know a doctor who isn it for the money and she makes less then 30k a year as she will talk to paitents for hours on there totally body and that is why, she also prays with them etc. i think she is uu but still.

jesus is compassionate if jesus understands then why isnt in the bible that we can break laws for healings and needs for living? when in fact it says that man who is wealthy ought to give to the poor via what i said and the church in the nt was also doing that and paul said first let the family take care of their own first then the church.

God can and does use those that "have" to bless those poor without stealing or breaking the law.

google solatlantic. that is low cost clinic that adjusts cost for the indigent. and also treasure coast community health clinic. these are in my hometown yes they take insurance but again they also work with you.

i wouldnt call the state of oregon penal system. prison are rough and i'm sure if some kid that is small will become some lover of bubba, if they went that route and need more medical attention then you think aside from the ailments.

yes he did what he did in desperation. i feel for him but that doesnt mean he was right. God could have healed him or send men and women to bless him.

That man was not trying to hurt anybody. And Pard I spent 17 months in the Philly county jail. I was not in the big house. But back to the subject there is a problem with health care in this country. Some 3rd world countries has us beat when it comes to health care. And we are the most powerful country on earth, go figure.

so was i lewis, i never physically harmed anyone. i never used a gun, just wrote bad checks, lied to get loans with no sure intentions of paying them back. yes lewis we have a problem but it seems the states that have the most socialist in nature shaft the poor more then those that dont. hmmm

in my county there is no middle class there never was just ultra rich and poor. when i say poor its 40k or less as you aint making it on 40k or less with kids here. parents didnt when they were raising us. some of that was there own fault

i'm sorry i have somewhat of a problem when my state unemployment gives bp gas cards to the unemployed and they take it and buy cigareetes and beer. think i am kidding i heard that from the local bp station.

Jeez Oregon must really hate the poor...

Anyways... The guy broke the law and he was banking on that fact. I don't see how you can argue otherwise...

There is no OREGON. That is only a name.
This is only a place in the world.
Yes, of course we know he broke the law.
He knew he was breaking the law.
I am not saying that he did not.
I am saying that in any of the 50 states you can not continue to receive medical care without flashing the greenbacks or be in the military, penal system or other such place.

Huh?
What does this have to do with the story?
The man did not hurt anyone, scared them for sure and that is wrong.
I never said he was blameless.
Florida, Oregon, Texas, wherever, no doctor and clinic will continue to see you if you do not pay your bill on time.
Maybe you can make arrangements but you better stick to it.
It is not free whether you have the best insurance or none at all.

its called indigent care and yes they do. i know of one of them. you assume all clinics are like yours they arent.low cost clinics are there. i told you of them. i went to solatlantic. paid by billing and got billed each time i saw them for my bruised/torn cartiligege in my rib cage. cost me 200 bucks in all.

I feel for the guy. I don't have insurance. Luckily, my mental health care is free (I guess they want to make sure poor people don't go crazy and kill people or stop doing their jobs) and I'm starting school soon to get a job that will provide (hopefully good) insurance. That said, I'm fairly young and healthy.

This guy had all kinds of problems. And I don't think with pain and chronic, untreated health conditions you really think clearly. I'm not trying to psychoanalyze him, but pain makes you crazy and chronic, untreated pain has to make you sad, angry, and frustrated.

I believe in universal health care. By the time it comes to pass, I'll probably/hopefully be in a job that provides good coverage anyway, but this is just ridiculous. Our country is fine with giving giant corporations big tax breaks, but we won't spend squat on insuring the average Joe who keeps things going. Now they're even talking about cutting WIC and TANF, programs that have been proven efficient and useful.

I hope this guy get lenient treatment, maybe they can put him on probation and hook him up with social services to get his health conditions under control. Locking someone up is expensive, so I think the state would save money (and the prosecutor would look better when it hits the media) if they cut him some slack and helped me get the health care he needs, if that's possible.

i dont believe in universal health care the reasons the va! the va has been underfunded for yrs and was cuts under some presidents both democrat and republican,. a little lie means bigger lies are coming.

i know of one of them

Wow.
Give me the name and I will call them and find out exactly what level of health care that I can receive for free/ low payments.
I wonder if they will do MRI's
Explorative surgery?
Heart surgery?
Long term blood screening?
And if you have cancer?
I suppose when you die they just own your house and bank account?

I am a veteran.
100% Honorable discharge.
I am denied any medical benifits that are not service related.
Reason? They say I made too much money.
They say "Try again next year with a new 1040 tax return.

sad aint it. in a sense they did the same to me. but you can go to them if you still want to pay under that new act under bush. i know vets that served yrs ago(nam) and went and had knee surgeries and still go. for me its too far. you know the va, deny , deny, deny, till the vet gives up.

we had an active member here who had cancer and insurance. surely you do think the govt wont ration. they do. i have expericence that. i was sent to dental school not a dentist office for dental care. i got lucky dentists worked on me. dental students did the others and a few are longer able to be in the military and are on va disability(nerve damage). funny how the govt does us like that.

Then you were obviously serving more than one charge.
You can stay in the county jail for 2 years in Philly and up to 5 years if your case is still going back and forth to court. We have 4 jails up on State Rd with a 5th a few blocks away. Here in Philly you can get county time or state time, depending on what you did. PA is a Commonwealth. I have a nephew who was killed in one of them jails last night.

sorry to hear that. here in florida its one year for the local jail(if sentenced longer then off to the prison system).

I'd have to ask about that. Completely different from what I've been taught and what all the websites I am currently consulting are telling me. Not sure what you mean by "county time" (unless you are referring to jail/county lock-up) because all crimes are against the state and that is something I know for a fact goes across all states.

Pard, I think that he probably is in jail and not prison because he only asked for $1.00. Often, larceny only becomes a felony if the amount is high enough. Since he didn't use a weapon, if he had done the crime here in our county, he'd be in the county lock-up and not a prison.

As far as going to an emergency room for his conditions....he wasn't experiencing a medical emergency. Here where we live, the ER doctor would have done some tests then sent him home with instructions to call his primary care physician. That's it.

I'm not a believer in the government's ability to solve our health care problems for us.

But...the insurance companies must REALLY want the government to take over, because they couldn't make it harder for folks to afford insurance or medical care.

I wouldn't do what this guy did...I just wouldn't. But, I can understand his need and why he felt that this might have been his only option.

Pard county time means you stay in the county, here in Philly you can stay in the county for up to 2 years, or 5 years for special cases. I did 17 months and would have done the whole 23 months in the county, but I got out on probation. So county time means you stay in the county and you don't go up state to the big house.
