Jeep brake problems

Interesting read.

Is it possible that what ever was added to the brake fluid that ruined the seals in the master cylinder somehow weakened the seals in the brake calipers? It feels like they are greased every time you apply the brakes.

not really as that would cause the spongy feel to it. They might be leaking , but not enough for the light to come on. Check the front and rear brakes for containamtion on the friction surfaces, clean if possible and repair the cause.

The brakes are old but not bad, perhaps just replacing the pads will resolve the problem. I'll have to see next time i've got some money, lol

You were driving on some sleet and a little melted snow then correct?
if so then you may be looking at simply the water needing to come off the friction materials, and the loss of traction.

In Florida if i go through a deep puddle i must pump the brakes a few times to get the water out of the drum brakes on the rear.

Well she did sit in a mud hole for 3 days straight (off roading gone bad) about 2 months ago, perhaps that had a ill effect on the system.

water and dirt in the master cylinder and drums and RUST on the rotor and drums. THE friction materials need to be replaced or at least checked. also flush the front diff and rear diff and also may be transder case as water may have entered the system.
not mention the front wheel bearings.
