A thread entitled "Jesus has ascended into Heaven" was closed by Mungo with the comment "Apparently no-one wants to discuss the topic anymore". That is not the case. I don't believe that reflects the desire of the participants. Perhaps it conflicts with his Catholicism. However, I believe that a number of us want to continue discussing the topic. So here is my continuation of the topic...

You wrote, "When I encountered Jesus, I knew nothing. I only knew that I felt loved and that He was trying to take care of me somehow." That is what I am referring to! "I felt loved" -- that is not an intellectual emotion, that is spiritual! You felt loved by a person whom you have never met or seen! That is spiritual. Same thing with "He was trying to take care of me somehow." That is precisely what I mean by spiritual knowledge, not intellect and not from a known cause.

That is very similar to how I felt when Jesus healed me in the hospital. When I was an atheist I had always relied on my intellect and intelligence, but when He healed me I was overwhelmed with love from a person whom I had never met!!! That is spiritual knowledge.

Now, when I read the Bible and pray, I feel that same feeling, but to a lesser degree. But it is there! I might add that I read many other things, but nothing I read affects me the way God's word does. And nothing affects me like prayer, including speaking in tongues. My mind is unfruitful: "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful." 1 Corinthians 14:14

Interesting stuff!!!

I can't remember where we were!

I think I had asked you if what I described was the SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE that you speak of....
I think I also asked if there's anything wrong with MENTAL KNOWLEDGE...

I have a brother in SC that refuses to study the bible.
He knows it very well, and he's read it cover to cover (something I can't do) quite a few times,
but he won't go to a bible study, for instance.

What about that?

Also, I don't know that this should be titled JESUS ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN.
Is that what we're discussing?

Your brother has read the Bible cover to cover quite a few times but won't go to a Bible study? Why not? Is he afraid that others might enlighten him somehow?

IMHO there is nothing wrong with "mental" knowledge. It's how we function as humans. But spiritual knowledge is a special quality, a gift from God that goes beyond normal reason and logic.

And I agree that the OP subject has nothing to do with what we're discussing, but most threads deviate from the OP after a brief time.

Hi wondering, I think spiritual knowledge is knowledge if spiritual matters, not information only spirits can receive. The authors of thr Bible had spiritual knowledge, that is, they understood mattes of the heavenly realm. The Bible refers to spiritual discernment, for example. This includes knowing something you cannot otherwise know such as a word of wisdom or knowledge. It is not experiences the person undergoes like feeling loved or healed. Those don’t generate knowledge.
