Jesus is willing for some to perish !

matt 23:

31Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Jesus had this to say to some of them Matt 23:

31Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Fill ye up in the greek is an imperative, so jesus was commanding them to continue in their evil course of behaviour, in order to be punished for it, he then says, how can you escape the damnation of hell..now it is absurd to think that Jesus christ wanted these men saved..

Its the exact opposite, He desired their damnation in hell, who can deny this ?

This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. -1 Timothy 2:4

"Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign LORD. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live. - Ezekiel 18:23

He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. -2 Peter 3:9

SO it would see what you have posted, OP. Its not in the context in which you present it. If you see two verses contradict, then the context is perceived wrong.

(Rom 2:9) tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;

(Deu 28:15) But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

(Deu 28:16) Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

(Deu 28:17) Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

(Deu 28:18) Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

(Deu 28:19) Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

(Deu 28:20) The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

(Deu 28:21) The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.

(Deu 28:22) The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

(Deu 28:23) And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

(Deu 28:24) The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

(Deu 28:25) The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

(Deu 28:26) And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.

(Deu 28:27) The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

(Deu 28:28) The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:

(Deu 28:29) And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

(Deu 28:30) Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

(Deu 28:31) Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.

(Deu 28:32) Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.

(Deu 28:33) The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:

(Deu 28:34) So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

(Deu 28:35) The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

(Deu 28:36) The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

(Deu 28:37) And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.

(Deu 28:38) Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.

(Deu 28:39) Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.

(Deu 28:40) Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.

(Deu 28:41) Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.

(Deu 28:42) All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.

(Deu 28:43) The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.

(Deu 28:44) He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

(Deu 28:45) Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:

(Deu 28:46) And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

(Deu 28:47) Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

(Deu 28:48) Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

(Deu 28:49) The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

(Deu 28:50) A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:

(Deu 28:51) And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.

(Deu 28:52) And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

(Deu 28:53) And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

(Deu 28:54) So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:

(Deu 28:55) So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

(Deu 28:56) The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,

(Deu 28:57) And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

(Deu 28:58) If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;

(Deu 28:59) Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

(Deu 28:60) Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.

(Deu 28:61) Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

(Deu 28:62) And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.

(Deu 28:63) And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

(Deu 28:64) And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

(Deu 28:65) And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

(Deu 28:66) And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:

(Deu 28:67) In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

(Deu 28:68) And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

(Deu 11:26) Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Deu 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Deu 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known

30 - And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' - NIV

31 - So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. - NIV

32 -

Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers! - NIV
-
Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started. - ISV

33- "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? - NIV

34 - "Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city

37 - "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.

I fail to see how this is God telling people to continue in their evil course of behaviour, in order to be punished for it.

Yes, those were the children of the devil, i.e. the "Tares."

Mat 13:37 And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
Mat 13:38 and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one;

Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,....
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
Joh 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not *of God. (* or "from")

Mat 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees
Mat 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan,

Of course, He destroyed those Tares (sons of the Devil) with the Roman armies 40 years later. :)

Mat 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Mat 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

This is the spirit that has pervaded all nations/institutions of written government.

Written government is good, but an evil attends it in all situations.

There is mercy and forgiveness for those who serve God through written government, as he promised David, in the "sure mercies" promised through David; though the sword does not leave their house, as we see in the experience of David, a man after God's own heart.

The elect, who are of the promise of God spoken to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel, are scattered among all nations.

This evil that attends written government (written government is holy, just and good ) does not attend the work of God through the spoken promise given to Abraham ( the children of faith are all children of God through the promise spoken to Abraham ).

The Lord often told the tribes, who served the Lord through the written code, that they had not obeyed his "voice." They did not understand, and they persecuted the messengers.

When Michal stands up, there will be a time of trouble which has not been since there was a nation (a government whereby diverse people, such as the 12 tribes, are joined together by a written code). The written code was good, holy and just, but transgression increased under its ministration, because of human nature. Selfishness through greed and vain imaginations increased. It came to the full in the oppression of their own people as recorded in the book of Jeremiah. All those who think to have life through a written code follow in this same pathway of ultimately exercising violence against their own, even though they deny their participation.

The children of faith will suffer during this period of great spiritual darkness and oppression. They will turn the other cheek with their Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, who is their Savior from the guilt and power and mark of sin. They will cry out for deliverance even as they are being reconciled to the process of anguish and sorrow. Then their Lord will appear to deliver them, at the darkest hour. He will save them by his grace. He will bring his salvation and his grace with Him, and reward them with a new work in his priesthood, to minister mercy to their persecutors.

This work of God is like water, first to the ankles, then the knees, then the waist and finally it is so deep that it is only for swimming.

The OP may have been a bit ambiguous. I don't believe that Jesus delighted in those going to hell or even necessarily desired it. I do believe though that Jesus is delighted in the fullness of who God is, and that includes God's justice, righteousness, and holiness. In order for those attributes to be glorified in God, sin must be punished.

todum says:

I don't see why..Jesus clearly said what He said, nothing ambiguous about it..what part of the OP you don't believe, please specifically point it out..

2 Pet 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(KJV)

1 Tim 2:3-4
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
(KJV)

Matt 18:12-14
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father Which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
(KJV)

I thank God that He made our Lord Jesus Christ the only Judge as to who will perish in the "lake of fire", for so far today, ONLY Satan and his angels have already been judged and sentenced to perish. Not even Judas Iscariot or the 'tares' have been judged and sentenced to perish yet. We should be careful of those who go about judging and sentencing before the time, for even our Lord Jesus had not judged and sentenced those Jews of John 8 and Matthew 23 when He rebuked them. His warning to them there was a rebuke for what would happen if they continued in their evil ways. Their judgment was not yet, and is still not yet.

vet says:

I thank God that He made our Lord Jesus Christ the only Judge as to who will perish in the "lake of fire"

So point out what you disgree with Jesus about in the OP ? Quit deflecting and deal with what he stated in the op..

The whore of Babylon thing? It's much easier than that, lol. Just find who killed the prophets, then you have the whore.

As for the great tribulation thing, Jesus was talking about the destruction of Jerusalem and the war leading up to it in 66-70 AD.

Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Luk 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mar 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Which is when this was fulfilled- (As the Romans killed almost everyone there)

Mat 23:35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar.
Mat 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

reaserch says:

Yes, those were the children of the devil, i.e. the "Tares."

They dont believe that on this board, the moderaters asked me not to mention the children of the devil..

If you notice, Jesus pronounced a bunch of woes to those men before saying to them, fulfill ye your measure..

Notice these woes:

Matt 23:

12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

17Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

18And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

19Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

20Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

21And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

22And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

23Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

24Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

25Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

29Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

30And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

There are no less than 8 woes . This word is a denounciation and intimates coming grief, and the grief of hell is implied..No call for repentance is given by Jesus here..

Mat 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
Mat 23:33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell?

I think that the spirits of fallen angels were in them as you have sons of God (angels (the ones in heaven etc)), and sons of the devil (fallen angels). I think that's why he asked "how can you escape going to hell?" Obviously fallen angels can't be going to heaven, lol.

Sons of the devil, killed the Son of God. Seems kind of basic. I'm sure I could be wrong though, lol.

reaserc says:

Sons of the devil, killed the Son of God.

Not necessarily all of them were the devils children, some of them were the Sons of God in their unconverted state, for they were converted on the day of pentecost acts 2:

23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(KJV)

(KJV)
