Jesus' "Jewish-ness"

The fact that Jesus was Jewish (besides him being referenced as the "King of the Jews" among other things in the Bible) seems to be something that a lot of Christians, or even those outside of the religion shy away from. Jesus is the personification of the ideal Christian, and as Christians, we are meant to model our lives off of his. But he was a Jew to the fullest extent. What thoughts do you have on this matter? Does it affect you at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

Perhaps you could think about this...
You get your DNA, that is to say all your physical and mental characteristics from your parents.
You get your seed from your dad, and so, this has a lot to do with your personality and your nature.
Jesus was a Jew, but he got his Nature and his seed from his Father, who isn't a Jew.
Jesus is God wrapped in human flesh., who was birthed out of a virginal jewish birth canal.
This is significantly different in all aspects then a normal Jew or a normal anybody.
So, you can think about that... and let me know what you think..

i agree but i do tell jews all that the torah jesus embodies. that is why i said its about love. if you really get into the torah and read up on what the sages say its interesting they consider the torah alive and to be lived out.

hmm doesnt our faith say the same? YUP

I completely understand what you are saying, and I agree, it was not his "Jewishness" that caused him to be perfect, it was the fact he was God in human flesh, but the fact remains that historically and in Scripture, Jesus completely followed Jewish law, adhered to Jewish holy days and celebrations, and considered himself to be a member of the Jewish community (well maybe a little more than just that :p )

I'm not looking at the effect him being Jewish had on how he acted, cause it may have had little impact, I don't know. But he was Jewish and for whatever reason, I feel he's always been associated with Christianity and Christianity alone, which I do not understand. It does not change who he was and his importance to us, so why is that detail often side-stepped?

Jesus was also an Israelite. People tend to forget that too.

For Jesus to be worthy to justify you, ..for his sacrifice to be accepted, he had to meet the entire criteria demanded by his Father, and this criteria meant keeping it all, doing it all, and staying sinless.
Now a question...., what did Jesus being water baptised do for you?
What did Jesus keeping the Pentecostal holy day do for you?
What did Jesus turning water into wine do for you?
Nothing.
However, he had to prove his Messiahship by "signs", so, he did miracles as the Jews require a sign....and he came for the House of Israel.....1st Corin 1:22, 14:22.
And the reason he was baptised and kept the law perfectly was because this is the Father's criteria which had to be met so that he was accepted and deemed worth to be a sacrifice on our behalf by his Father who set up these incredible standards.
We cant keep the law, but he had to., as that is the requirement for his sacrifice to be accepted by his Father.
Its also interesting that Paul said in Philippians that he was blameless regarding the law, yet in Tim 1:15 he said he is "chief of sinners".

He is associated with Christianity because Christianity is not a religion.........
It is an instant and total restoration between God and man that is accomplished by Christ's sacrifice of himself which is accessed by our FAITH.
So, if you take Christ out of Christianity, you have nothing, as he IS Christianity.
Look at the word CHRISTianity.
Look at the word CHRISTmas.
If you take "Christ" out, what do you have left?
And this is completely different then any other theology or man made religion.
Take Buddhism for instance.
If you remove The Buddha, then you still have all the principles of this system that attempt to get you to Nirvana if you follow them all diligently for the rest of your life...so, this is a DO system.
Whereas CHRISTianity,.....Salvation..... is a done system....which is available for free.

Religion, is man striving, based on a man-made mandated theological design/system, to reach God or to become God or Godlike.
Generally this striving is based on dos and donts, tho in some cases its based on the fantasy of soul evolution/reincarnation.
All this has nothing to do with Christ, and it has nothing to do with being eternally restored to the Father as a SINLESS SON, so it has nothing to do with Christianity.

Israelite were called Hebrews which means those from the other side of the Jordan, the descendents of Jacob. Jew is an English word as the Hebrew alphabet has no "j" in it. Being called a Hebrew is like calling someone Italian that is from Italy in the sense of the word. Hebrews were from Israel.

Jesus, or being called Yehoshua God as there are various Spellings and pronunciations, was not born an Israelite (Jew), but was placed among the Israelite nation to fulfill OT prophecy. There was a period of 490, give or take, years between Malachi and Matthew where God shut himself off from the Israelite nation for their lack of faith as they became disillusioned and doubtful because the prophesies of Haggai an Zechariah had not been fulfilled yet.

Jesus grew up hearing the teachings in the Temple being raised by a Hebrew family, but not being a Hebrew by blood. Jesus had no particular religion in him, but only that of Gods Spirit for the Father gave him what to speak. It was only the people that called him a Jew, but not a Jew himself.

YOU all have it backwards. being a real "hebrew" means one reflects the very nature of god given in the torah. Normally to gentiles i wont say that but to jews i will say that.

like jesus the torah is alive and breathing and to be lived out. when we move in christ we will do things by nature that are found in the torah. we will love our enemies. feed the poor show mercy and also defend the weak.
