Jesus's appearance?

Just out of curiosity, what race to you attribute to Jesus?

Some say he was black, some that he looked more Semitic. Heck, he's even been drawn as a blond white guy with blue eyes!

So what do you think Jesus looked like?

1 Samuel 16:12 says that His ancestor, David, was a redhead. Esau was too, indicating that Issac had the genes. As redheads are genetically predisposed to fair skin, I'd go with that.

Am I right in thinking that people with red hair and lighter skin have genes inherited from Neanderthals?

Hair color - black (Matt 5:36)
Hair length - short (1Cor 11:14)
Skin color - jasper / sardius (Rev 4:3)

Jesus required a betrayer to even identify Him. Hence, He was not easily identifiable when stood with other Jews as His time. Scripture refers the color of David (1Sam 17:42) and Solomon (Song 5:10) as ruddy.

Based on the likeness of 1st century Jews and skull samples Israeli and British forensic anthropologists and computer programmers came up with the above image having dark olive skin, short black hair.

However, based on the skin color of David (also Solomon), the color described as beautiful in Scriptures i.e, "ruddy" which is also the color of blood, I would tend to say He is ruddy (which is same as the color of jasper / sardius) which is still a reddish shade of the above image.

Ruddy is not redhead. Ruddy is dark reddish skin color, the color of blood. Christ came in the color of Blood, which runs through every human veins.

Sheesh Jesus was blond blued eyed and his pretty blue robe never got dirty. :eeeekkk Dont you see His pictures...

MO... He looked like some ordinary guy from the middle east....like Felix has said.

But there are other lines of inquiry that posit that Mary may have been from Black Jewish stock. There are still many that actually think he was blue eyed and blond. WELL, the Nazis did and used that as justification for some of their ideals.

Most humans have genes inherited from neanderthals. Probably all humans. The last estimate I heard was 10-20%, but that could be high.

On a more general note, I do hope that there's no implication of Christ's race being of anything more than trivial interest.

Jesus does know how to make an appearance!!!!

But He must have been very plain looking....thereby letting the inner man come out.

"From analysis of skeletal remains, archeologists had firmly established that the average build of a Semite male at the time of Jesus was 5 ft. 1 in., with an average weight of 110 pounds. Since Jesus worked outdoors as a carpenter until he was about 30 years old, it is reasonable to assume he was more muscular and physically fit than westernized portraits suggest."

The Gospel writers record an account when Jesus avoided violence by an angry mob simply by mingling with the crowd. Judas had to identify Him with a kiss of betrayal. Obviously, these incidents show us that Jesus looked like any other Jew of His day.

According to Numbers 6:1-6 the person taking a Nazarite vow pledged to abstain from wine and grapes, to avoid touching a dead body and to not cut his or her hair until the end of the vow's duration, when the hair had to be cut. But the Gospels record occasions when Jesus drank wine, which means He would have broken a Nazarite vow had He been under one. I would only assume he had short hair.

The apostle John was given a vision of what Jesus looks like today in His glorified form. In Revelation 1 Jesus is said to have hair "white like wool," "eyes like a flame of fire" and to appear "like the sun shining in its strength" (verses 4, 16).

Here are some scriptures that depict what Jesus looked liked.
Isaiah 53:2, 3
Hebrews 2:17
Luke 24:35-39; 25:15-16
John 20:15, 16
John 21:4, 12-14
Mark 16:12
Revelation 1:12-18

Jesus wasn't a Nazarite anytime. Nazarene different from Nazarite.

(Matt 2:23) And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."

Hence, He always has short hair and never had long hair. The long hair version is a false one originated from (medieval Europe?) with (Pagan origins?).

When we get to heaven we shall see.

Yes. Best most intelligent answer evaaaar. Where is my trophy.

This is simply you speculating. If you have any evidence, then please show it.

Your evidence for "black hair" is Mathew 5:36 "Do not take an oath by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black."

Is this evidence for your theory? WOW!

Don't you know that Jesus was an albino? I can prove it... He either had white or black hair, and it was white:

"His head and hair were as white as wool, even as white as snow..." Rev 1:14

I'm joking of course. You must be careful about using figurative language to form your emphatic (and literal) dogmas.

He was an average guy for sure. To be honest, I could care less what he looked like. I'm more interested in what he did here :).

1Co 11:14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?

Mat 11:19 "The Son of Man came eating and drinking ..

Matt 5:36 proves He is from a race who had either black or white hair. By the way albinos don't have white hair but golden hair. Neither Jesus was an albino because He was a perfect sacrifice and required a betrayer.

Rev 1:14-16 not His physical appearance while on earth.

14 His head and hair [were] white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;

15 His feet [were] like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;

16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance [was] like the sun shining in its strength.

I understand your point; I think you are drawing conclusions on shaky grounds. Did every hebrew have black hair? Can you prove that? I would doubt it.
