Job, a look at the man

Hello Northman.
God gave permission for his own life to be screwed with. You understand how our dear gentle God allowed himself to be disagreed with, lied about, slapped, spit on, beaten mercilessly, humiliated and crucified. And you understand why, yes?
Sure. John 3:16.

Who feels that? I find that’s extremely uncommon and church services are as likely to insult God or more than atheists.
David felt that way.

I'm very interested as to why it was brought up in the light/context of things that are being talked about here.

Ok. David feels insulted when people insult God. Easy to understand. Lots of us share that. Where do you want to go with it?
David was prophesying of the contempt unrepentant sinners would have for our Lord Jesus because of their hatred for God,

as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. Rom.15:3

He was hated as his Father is hated,

They that hate me without a cause...being mine enemies wrongfully...Psa.69:4

You understand how our dear Savior bore sin against himself, don't you?

You are mistaken. I’m not at all discouraged. The christians I see who have no problem insulting God themselves are Canadians and Americans.
Ahhh

When you said this, I just assumed you meant your locale. So are you watching American and Canadian church on TV or the web and not liking what you see, or something else?

Who feels that?
This is where confusion comes in. In the context of Psalm 69:9, this is part of the suffering we get to share in Christ. Being offended on behalf of God isn't an uncommon thing for believers, from anywhere. If you truly don't see this type of activity, then wherever you are is in some serious trouble. Or is this something again you are trying to reference to those of us in North America?

You are going to have to skip to the end. You asked a question which I answered.
He is the embodiment of God on earth, suffering insults so vile, it's revolting. So Job wonders why "bad things happen to good people." Then he sees God as he was mangled by the whip and cross, who loved the people who did it!
And Job has a change of heart. The End

Ahhh

No, we attend an international church but the majority of westerners are canadian with yanks a close second.

No, it’s not particularly north american. That was a reaction to you assuming Europe is depressing, a personal slam on my location, a kind of ad hominem, instead of the issue at hand. The glass house was too big to resist but it wasn’t my finest hour.

I cannot think of a time when christians I know in a small group or church were offended for God. Can you give me a example of this response you find common?

Oy vey! I have never been to a church service that insulted God. You should find a different church.
“True, for thousands of years He favored one nation (Israel) and left the rest to their own devices.”

This is a quote from a poster here. Do you see how deeply insulting to the character of God this is? And what christian gets upset over this?

I’ll lasso this back to Job….

A problem God might have had with Job’s later attitude was that Job attacked, in his words and thoughts, the character of God. He justified himself raising his goodness above God’s. This is not a small offense. It is, actually, the Enemy’s tactic from day one…..accuse God of moral wrong.

My advise is to take care when you elevate yourself above Him.

Ahh ok so it was a retaliatory post over a perceived insult of who you affiliate with. Gotcha.

That song is deeply insulting to Gods character.
