I'm going to chime in as another person who's ok with a Christian working in a bar or casino.
Why, you ask? Because my mother is a God believing and fearing, Bible believing woman. I was born in 1991. My mother has been working in the casino industry since 1995. She's had to because her parents didn't think she was smart enough to go to school, so they immediately set her to working full time at 15. She had an eighth grade education for a long time.
And my father left when I was little, leaving my mother to care for my sister and I alone. So when fast food didn't provide a good enough living for us, my mother had to apply for work at a casino. She's worked in Table Games, Slots, and almost everywhere you can think of.
But now she's working as a manager in the Beverage Department. She's had to take what seems like a million and one classes about liquor licenses, health safety, and dealing with customers.
It's part of her job to make sure things are safe and to cut off drunk people. That's the way it's been in every casino she's ever worked in.
The casino may make more money when people buy more drinks, but if a drunk person causes issues or hurts themselves or someone, it's not worth getting sued. It's not in the best interest of a casino to have incredibly drunk people around. I can't speak for every casino on the planet, but where my mom has always worked, safety is number one.
The point is, you can't judge in every situation and paint with such a broad brush. Certain circumstances come along and we're stuck in a less than ideal situation. I'm in one right now.
And for the record, my mom has a GED now, and is taking college courses. She's thinking of becoming a medical technician, and I couldn't be prouder of her.
