Bible Study John 3:17

The most well known verse in the bible is followed by this one.

John 3:17
God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

This to me is an indicator of the nature of Jesus not condemning sinners that are already condemned by their actions.

For a christian I have been challenged by this verse in that I must not attempt to condemn fellow sinners for their actions as Jesus didn't do it. I am assuming the translation into english means he did not condemn sinners.

I know the Pharisees bugged him and that would have been the closest thing to it but he was defending himself from them.

What do you think?

This verse is explaining the perfect example and perfect sacrifice that is Jesus Christ.
thats what I was thinking.

I thought the task of a christian is to take on the nature of Christ and I guess I see a non Judgemental, non condemning, self sacrificing, loving person in him.

Both verse 16 and 17 use the word "world". We need to note that God created the "world". It does NOT just mean people. It means the world and the order He created everything, including mankind. God hasn't changed His mind about what He created. His ultimate goal is for us to live in and occuply the world.
