Sorry brother.
Judge not and you will not be judged BUT when you do judge, judge rightly first judging yourself....always start with the man in the mirror
Great observation williamt.Right, the Beatitudes of Matthew chapter 5, and chapter 7 in light of Matthew 5:20 for context is quite revealing:
"For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
God bless,
William
Hi Brother williamt, I just want to verify your thoughts on the righteousness we need to enter the kingdom of heaven. Thanks.Right, the Beatitudes of Matthew chapter 5, and chapter 7 in light of Matthew 5:20 for context is quite revealing:

Thanks for an excellent answer William.G'day Brother Eugene!
Unless your righteousness exceeds - I think the Pharisees were focused on the external emphasis and obedience towards the Law without a proper inward attitude. In the following verses God restores the true nature of the Law, demanding total and radical holiness, but with the intent of the law which includes an awareness of the need for grace and dependence on God. It is worthwhile to keep in mind that Jesus does not alter, replace, of nullify the former commands in Matthew 5:20, but rather established their true intent.
To answer your question, more precisely, it is the alien righteousness of Christ we need to enter the kingdom of heaven. It is Christ that saves through faith. The saving power resides exclusively, not in the act of faith or the attitude of faith or nature of faith, but in the object of faith. Further, Regeneration is an axiom throughout the Scriptures, both OT and NT, Ezekiel 36:25-27 states the heart of flesh makes possible receptiveness and obedience to the Word of God.
25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
Your thoughts brother Eugene?
God bless,
William
