judging people

Paul condemns the Corinthian church for failing to judge the sinner among them. And, I should stand condemned for failing to judge those who preach "do not judge."

1 Corinthians 5:1-4

New Living Translation (NLT)

Paul Condemns Spiritual Pride

5 I can hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among you—something that even pagans don’t do. I am told that a man in your church is living in sin with his stepmother.[a] 2 You are so proud of yourselves, but you should be mourning in sorrow and shame. And you should remove this man from your fellowship.
3 Even though I am not with you in person, I am with you in the Spirit.[b] And as though I were there, I have already passed judgment on this man 4 in the name of the Lord Jesus. You must call a meeting of the church.[c] I will be present with you in spirit, and so will the power of our Lord Jesus.

What Paul was teaching in 1 Corinth. as we read on is that we cannot allow sin in the church. It corrupts others in the church and is a bad witness. It's really not about judging the person themselves for if the same person was not guilty of this sin we would see them differently. So I see it as judging their actions, the sin.
Should we pray that this person can leave this sin behind?

Do I think that I have the same authority that Paul did. Nope. I was not caught up into the third heaven and taught by the Lord directly. In fact I think Paul was probably the most enlightened of all the apostles. But that's another subject.

Luke 6:37

New Living Translation (NLT)

Do Not Judge Others

37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.

These are Jesus' words. Paul was speaking to one specific problem.
Jesus also said in this same chapter in the verses above that if some steals from you don't try to get it back. Hmmm

AMEN

Amen to what? Please expound. What do you think Paul was addressing and why? Why should they judging the person's salvation? Are they judging his acts of sin?

I think the important thing is that you recognize this behaviour and I congratulate you on that.
I also believe if you consistently ask Abba to change it, He will be faithful to do so by continuing to keep you aware. Sometimes it takes a little time. Think of times when you were judged and how it made you feel, or when you sensed others judging you. We sometimes think we know what the motives of another are, but we really don't. Only God sees the heart.
God bless you for your conscientiousness
