The Holy Spirit, through the Church (the Body of Christ) from all nations, continues to overcome the spirit of antichrist. By spreading the testimony of Jesus Christ, the Gospel, the Good News of our Savior. Shining His light on the empty and dark places of mens hearts.

Ditto!

I think confusion comes when we don't understand the difference between "church" and "Church."

Re: Just One True Church against the Atrichrist

But Jesus said "upon this rock I will build my church" which bespeaks a difference between His Church (singular) and churches given birth to by men.

You'll have to unpack that thought. Any so called churches that are not The Church, are not churches at all. The biblical idea of church is the assembly of YHWH, those who are called out, the Israel of God. Church has a specific biblical meaning.

As I see it, "upon this rock" is referring to the place He was standing, what immediately follows and how He proceeds to preach the Gospel message from that point onward. The place He was standing is literally, even to this day, called the Gates of Hell. He was standing upon ground where false gods were worshiped and men had built hundreds if not thousands of alters to these deities. He goes up to the top of the Mount Hermon, which is in Caesarea Philippi, is Transfigured. He proclaims who He is to the spiritual world and claims His territory and kingdom. He literally takes back from these false gods what they had taken for themselves. From then on He preaches and teaches the message of His suffering and heads back to Jerusalem.

If one can accept what has happened here in the text, it is eye opening to say the least.

That "rock" of Matt.16:18 upon which Jesus said He would build His church was not the ground upon which He was standing when making that statement but He Himself, the truth which Peter said when he confessed Jesus to be the "Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus Himself is that rock, I Cor.3:11 and its context.

Well that's one presupposition read into the verses, among several others. Perhaps it would be good to check out what I said before you reject it right out and discuss it with me. Or, if it is just too big a leap for your theology, ignore it.

Blessings.

Re: Just One True Church against the Atrichrist

Which church is this "one true church"?

It's not "which church" that is the one true church, it is "the church" that is the one true church. The church are the faithful in Christ and the called out ones of YHWH, the Israel of God. They exist across time and through all denominations and factions of the Christian faith. The one true church is a body of believers who bear the fruit of the Spirit.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. (Galatians 6:14-16, KJV)

Well what do you do with Eph. 4:5 for just starters then!

And the ones of Matt. 7 & Rev. 17:1-5 with all of these daughters!

No folks, there is the [ONE] TRUE church that satan hates! And there is NO doubt which [one] that is!

Rev. 12:17 give this identification...
[17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I have checked out what you said and found it a dry well. You say that the fact that the church Christ build is built upon the truth confessed by Peter that Jesus is the Christ is just one supposition among several. May I ask, can you produce one better? What better "supposition" than that Jesus Himself is that "rock"? Your answer will be interesting.
God bless

The gates of hell?? Your kidding of course!
The Church is recorded in Matt. 18 by Christ Himself. He says that [[it is the complete body of believers.]]

Matt. 18:15-18
[15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

[16] But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

[17] And if he shall neglect to hear them, [[tell it unto the church:]] but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

[18] Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

And this is the summation of Eph. 4
[5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
And you can rest assured that God does not change! Mal. 3:6! (nor does His Son) Heb. 13:8-9!

But we can see that Dan. 7:25 told of the 'thinking' of a satanic force to 'attempt' such an act!

Amos 9:11

King James Version (KJV)

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

Acts 15:13-20

King James Version (KJV)

13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

I've already given you my opinion, which is not mine alone but that of many.

David's tabernacle is a very interesting subject

It seems to me that God would not hide His one true church in obscurity. Rather His church is the one that has broadcast the Gospel to the world for nearly two thousand years, and is strong enough to specialize into denominations to reach the greatest number of people. Secondary issues do not separate one from the one true church.

Josh. 7's a small issue???? (36 men died!) READ verse 12-13!

--Elijah

What do you believe is the accursed thing among you?

Me again:
To this must be added that this is a conditional PROMISE which is only given while these ones are FAITHFULLY
in Obedience. For what happened to old Israel would happen over & over again while it is recorded as such. Matt. 23:38
'your house is left unto you DESOLATE.'

Disobedience!

--Elijah

How is this disobedience among you expressed?

'your house is left unto you DESOLATE.'

Jesus spoke these words to the leaders, the ones who were responsible for the judgments that came upon the nation of Israel. He turned and left to never return to the temple again before they crucified Him with the help of the Gentiles, both being equally guilty.

They rejected the Messiah for the nation of Israel. They chose the "old" not wanting the "new".

Now since the cross we stand as individuals, either rejecting or receiving Him. We were all "desolate houses" at one time. But now He lives in the temple He has established in each of us.
We always need to obey Him, but when we don't we have a Mediator, Himself who died for us.
