If i was to turn my hobbies into a side business, i would need licences and have a bunch of regulations i would need to follow. At the moment i just do it for enjoyment as i find it interesting.

Or art (photography) work with shows for sales of same.
Mrs. Barbarian sells a few of our photographs. It's good money, but I'm unwilling to put much time into it; I would be looking for stuff that sells, instead of things that move me. Doesn't sound like fun.

You must be a pessimist.
If you enjoy history, why not try to make something fun out of it?
Invent a history game of some sort.
making money out of history would require I own property ,or work for a tourism company.local history here isn't that type of draw .

I take photos and tell there stories . at best a postcard or suchlike .leg work has been done .the society doesn't pay ,in fact to be a member I would pay.docent are volunteers .or I would have to get into genealogy and work for the library .

I much would rather not work .docent work I could do .

there are degrees and jobs for historians who research property history . Platt research etc .not hard to do just have to have access .its open to the public and I can request a Platt hand drawn of old for that .I have downloaded and posted this one's history

That is very 1940-50's.
It could be on Route 66 !
built 1952 before the widening of the road its on .I found it on a topo of 1951 .hard to see it but its there its neighbors to the west are as old and older . the former Sinclair built in 1949 and the gas station, next to it built in 1954,and the motel across from it are how I could verify it

It's the old RR station at the International District in Seattle.
There's now a light rail line going by there, but the station is usually not very crowded.

Old train stations were so enticing.
Beautiful as churches once were.
I wonder if airports will one day fall into that realm.
