Know the Lord?

That's very strange, when I was thinking of what to say I talked it out in my head first and I kept saying to myself "after you say meditate on the law say also that we ponder" But I left it out.

:lol Sounds like the Holy Spirit is on the job today brother!

I listened to a video sermon yesterday, and the Pastor was talking about how to hear the voice of the Lord and know it. He said the way he trained himself to recognize the voice of the Lord, as opposed to our voice or the enemies voice, was to before he went to bed, he would ask God a question, anything, and then write down all of the toughts which came to his head, all of them irregardless. Then he would say is that all Lord? Then write down anything else which came to mind. In the morning he would go through the list marking everything that was scriptural, extra-biblical (which requires discernment) and non-biblical, striking the non-biblical thoughts off. He said within two weeks of doing this nightly, he has learned to discern when the Lord speaks to him. I like this idea and think it has merit.

Also, I have been learning that the Lord speaks to us in multitudes of ways. Not only in words. Many times in scripture we see where men have had visions from the Lord. A picture paints a 1000 words. We know the Lord uses visions. So what do we learn from this? From where do pictures come into our head from. From our imagination. Interesting that scripture speaks a lot about imagination. Could our very thoughts be a thing that we would be judged upon? Seven things doth the Lord hate...one of them is a heart that devisith wicked imaginations. In another place Jesus says, if we look upon a woman with lust in our heart (with our imagination!) that we have committed adultery. So we should seek to have a sanctified imagination and remain focused upon the Lord.

I believe there are some who have taken this scripture and have used it in a way in which they try to spiritualize the law for themselves, but I think more to the point Jesus was telling us that even though you think you can control your flesh outwardly by abstaining from relationships with others and committing no adultery, that you should seek no righteousness in it, because inwardly your flesh betrays you if you look upon a women with lust in your heart. We think we can overcome the will of our own flesh by ourselves by simple obedience to the law thou shall not commit adultery, and outwardly it may appear thus, but inwardly, are you tormented every time that you see a pretty women that you have to consciously tell yourself not to think about it. Like a drunk who has overcame his addiction to alcohol, but still torments himself every time he passes a drinking establishment. But we have the Spirit of Christ, and by Faith we are afforded the Grace to grow and learn by the Spirit of God without being tormented every time our thoughts betray ourselves.

God is a Spirit (John 4:24). If God has sent the Spirit of Son into our hearts crying, Abba, Father (Gal 4:6-7), and if you believe through Faith that the Spirit of Christ dwells in your hearts; then why do you look for another?
