I'm not up on my secular music, but this is getting alot of attention and it was designed to.

I'm not going to bash this guy, mostly because he in not a christian and he does not recognize his actions as such. I just want to talk about us christians who have children. We must be very diligent in what our kids see and are listening to.

The lyrics to this song are basically just about rough sex. Please pay attention. Our teenagers and younger will be rushing out to get music like this. Be ever so diligent so they do not get drawn in. :pray

This is why I urge parents to pay attention, to be ever more diligent!!

I recently bought a great book writteh by Rebecca Hagelin titled 30 ways to change your life in 30 days.

It's written to parents to encourage them to be watchful and weary of all sorts of media and indoctrinations out there that our kids are exposed to, from doctors, public school, and all sorts of media. I'ts an outright attack on moralism and christianity going on. :sad

sad, when even in our younger days the bible was held to some appreciation by the hollywood elite and media and it was mocked but not this bad.

i miss those days and shoot, the old tv and movies are far better.from the 50 and 60's

I told my fiance' the day will come when I toss the tv in the backyard and open up on it with my 12guage. :)

....she thinks I"m joking....... :grumpy

Three words....Walker Texas Ranger.....clean entertaining television and he managed to sneak christianity into many of the shows that ended up being watched and rated the highest, go figure.Much to the amazement of CBS I might add. :salute

i have pretty much given up on tv and movies already, because of the sleeeze that passes for entertainment.

I watched the NFL lastnight between the Saints and the PAtriots. (I love watching Brady get a beatdown.)

The commercials were horrid!! Erectile dysfunction commercials, beer commercials (beer is more revered than women the ads point out), and lots of other racey ads.....Oh yeah, victoria secret is going to be all over the tv tonight (not mine). That way we can slowly introduce young men into the world of objectizing women which leads to other things far worse........ yay..... :grumpy

Can you believe the Saints? Wow! :salute :biggrin

As far as the tv. We let all the movie channels go. Now in the morning I scroll through the menu and tape all the old movies to be shown that day that sound interesting and then we have an assortment to choose from each night. It has been such a pleasure to not be offended at the language or what is shown. I LOVE THE OLD MOVIES. Of course...there was a lot of violence, you know, gasp, cowboys shooting with those terrible guns. tsk, tsk.

We tuned into what we thought would be a good western on REGULAR TV, Deadwood. You wouldn't believe how terrible. The first few minutes contained worse language than any RRR rated movie. I'm sticking with the old ones...John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart. :yes

Anyway, taping is my suggestion and then when we come across nights like tonight where our dearly beloved leader will preempt all shows....we have a place to go. :)

I'm planning on not having a TV when I raise my children. I don't have one now and it's been quite refreshing. I guess I will just have to worry about the internet....which is another thing to tackle.

In fact, if anybody is interested, here is a great read on how the media and Jesus simply don't mix:

http://books.google.com/books?id=ojxTzo ... q=&f=false

Malcom Muggeridge frames "the media" as the fourth temptation. It's a very probing and witty read. You can see why Jesus came in a time in which He did.

Well, media has alot of good things too! Look at all the people who are too sick or disabled to attend church, they can watch church on tv. There are many good christian broadcasters on the radio and tv. As for the internet, look what we have here!!

I'm not saying we should ditch all media period, I'm saying we should be ever so vigilant!

Yes, I see your point. God can use anything he wants to his good. ...maybe I should just say the TV media provides a platform that lends itself easily to harm. I think you really have to push hard the other way to make it good.

My teenage daughter doesn't like him at all.

As for TV, I love that my kids are actually interested in shows like Little House on the Prairie reruns. They will sit down and watch them with interest. I'm a huuuuge M*A*S*H fan, but I have to say I think Little House on the Prairie was the best TV show of all time.

JoJo,

That's good about your daughter, she makes the right decision. In the end we can't shelter them from everything, but just lead them in the right way. When the time comes they will have to make the decision on what is and what is not within the guidelines of their own values. Prayerfully, we do our job right.

I'll take this opportunity to climb on my soapbox in regards to the commercials. We make fairly good choices regarding programs for our kids to watch, but man alive those commercials. I had to scramble for the remote just last night when a commercial came on that showed a woman and two men engaged in sex. This was at about 7:15 at night.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth the effort to try to get our Congress to pressure the FCC into regulating commercial content during what used to be known (way back in the troglodyte days) as the "family hours". I'd like to think whatever is on TV at 7:15 in the evening can be seen by all age groups.

HA! I'm a channel surfer.... I flip through the channels like it's flipping through a magazine. Just by flipping through and stopping by the ABC Music Awards a few times, I Couldn't even stay to watch the music awards that was on ABC network this year because of what I saw, it was based on soft porn and the costumes were no less vulgar... each time I passed by the channel not even able to stay for more than a minute because of the vulgarity on the screen. The performers grabbing people in places unspeakable! And Lambert was the worst of them! He brought his homosex porn into his act! SHAME ON THEM ALL! For allowing that on the ABC. :verysad

You're correct Handy, The FCC needs to tighten up with what is being allowed and put their foot down to stop the vulgarity. And more people need to call the tv stations and complain about the garbage tht is being allowed to be broadcast, not only on the programs but on the news also. I can't believe some of the junk these news reporters bring onto the air for the 6 o'clock news. Send them your emails, call the station. IF they don't hear from you they will only get worse! Ever since that night of the Music awards. I haven't put my tv on but two or three times because I can't stand the garbage they THROW at me. I've pretty much given up the tv because of it. So now, I'm more listening to the radio and reading books. And this computer, at least I can put filters on to control what shows up on my screen. But local tv? Lord Help us! :pray

.

JoJo, I'm not even sure. I scrambled to get the remote, which by the time I found it and switched the threesome were being shown naked (although none of the "parts" were shown). Even without the "parts" shown, I really don't want my son or daughter to watch a woman writhing around on a couch with two men with no clothing to be seen, although even with clothing it would have been bad enough.

Completely innappropriate for a family friendly show. Even if it was a female artist or a heterosexual display, completely innappropriate.
