For those of you who think the end time temple is to be rebuilt, first I guess we have to study where it was to begin with. I came across a good site (and free book to download) that claims it was actually south of the Dome of the Rock, at the Al Aqsa mosque.
I conversed with the woman by email who brought this theory. She's very friendly and is not so much into mathematics like I am, but is an artist who superimposed drawings over known, present sites and the ruins that seems to correspond to various gates, walls, and other such features of the temple. She made her case that the old aqueduct channels are the clue that the temple was south of the Dome (and Wilson's arch was where the water was fed from) and the wailing wall was Herod's old western wall of the compound, so the Jews today pray at what she believes is the northwest end of the compound. In other words, looking straight at the wall, the temple was not up on the mount to the left of the wall where the Dome is, but rather to the right, and the old temple complex actually extended south beyond the present one. Interesting read to say the least:

(while I won't say for certain she is perfectly right, due to the water channels, I do take the present stance that it probably was south of the Dome)
